I have used safety razors before and wanted to get a longer handle one with a butterfly operation.This razor cuts poorly and for my thick hair, pulls on it as it cuts. I tried different blades and also just giving it some time. Ultimately, this razor just doesn't give me a clean cut. This is my first safety razor and I am very happy with my selection. I will not be going back to normal razors again. This razor has a great look and feel. It is very well balanced. I get a very nice and close shave without any razor burn like before. This is great for my sensitive skin. I ended up returning this razor. What I didn't like was the blade gap being narrow. I suspect a lot of companies make the gap narrow in order to reduce cuts from shaving, but it also affects the shave itself. Having the wider gap makes the shave much better for me. Read more

My husband has used this razor every couple of days since I bought it for him. It's the perfect length for his hand and the weight is good too. I got this razor because our cleaning woman dropped my other one with a ceramic handle and it shattered. So, durability was one of my requirements. I also wanted to try the butterfly type of opening because two razors ago, the screw at the top of the handle broke off after a few years rendering the razor useless.The reason I am giving this razor three stars is that you have to hold the razor at a weird angle in order to get the blade to perform. In fact, after five shaves with this razor, I am still finding it difficult to get a clean shave on the first pass, something my previous razors had no problem doing the first time I tried them.I will continue using this razor and update my review if things go better later. Two months and the butterfly top is broken.The blade no longer sits where it should and can not shave with it.The weight is wonderful.It is a very aggressive razor.Wish they had customer service but I'm to contact Amazon whom does not return razors for obvious reasons.Would prefer a replacement or to have it fixed but it is considered a throw away to them.Sad really since I still have my fathers razor that is 50 years old and still works. Design, function, weight and feel of this razor are all great. I am relatively new to wet shaving and I'm able to shave my head baby butt smooth in 1 or 2 passes using this. I find the craftsmanship and/or quality control to be questionable though. The silo doors do not shut evenly and there are small bits of paint on the handle missing paint fresh from the box. This is my eighth safety razor; I've tried old razors with and without combs, new razors, and a couple of 70's travel razors. I would say that the travel razors were my favorite, but that might drive up the average $10 price on the popular bidding site.What makes me really like this one is the same thing that my son hates about it. Some would probably claim it is a bit "aggressive", but to me it seems that the blade rides a bit higher off the guard, or maybe the blade is a bit more exposed. Whatever the reason, you can feel the blade more (more of the blade?) and I can see how some may not like this. For me, it seems to offer more flexibility in regards to how you ride the blade against the skin. One tip I have heard, live by, and try to pass on, is to start with the razor perpendicular to the skin so that the top of the razor is touching and then start to lower the handle/change the angle while slowly drawing down as if shaving. You will feel the point at which the blade starts to make contact, and that is the general angle you'll want to keep. Another way to think of it is that you want the blade as parallel to the skin as possible as you cut the hairs. Because of "aggressive" feel to this razor it makes it easier to find this angle, for me anyways. I've also found that keeping as shallow of angle of attack as I can, my blades tend to last about a month of daily shaves (I have thick hairs and a pretty dense Scottish Red beard) with all the blades I've tried so far.If you are comfortable with safety razors and are looking to try something a bit closer to a straight edge, this may work for you. It is a very solid razor that requires the user to pay attention and allows variable angle options while shaving. Not recommended for a first safety razor. Read more

My only beef wasn't from the manufacturer, its with the condition of the box when it arrived the manufacturer packaging was almost barely intact... as this was a gift I had to use some skillful taping... so whoever the supplier for Amazon or Amazon themselves shud look at the product and say would I want that product with severely damaged box? I have been using DE razors for couple of years and this is my fourth razor (first Butterfly). I like everything about this razor build quality, weight feels balanced and if you let the razor do its job results are pretty good. I have only one issue, the blade tends to get loose, i have to make effort not to touch the bottom twist portion. So after every couple of passes i re-tight the comb else blade becomes loose.
