I was purchasing this item every month because it was a good universal razor to use as I shave my head, face, and also to use on the rest of my body. However, after about a month of use the motor would freeze up, causing the blade to either stop or move slower than desired and cause painful ingrown hairs. Before I purchased my 5th one, I decided to read some of the other reviews and found someone in a barbershop setting that was complaining of the same thing and recommended purchasing the slightly more expensive model from Sally's Beauty Supply and that is exactly what I did and am recommending to all of you. I purchased that model, and so far it has lasted me about 6 months of almost daily use with no problem whatsoever!! Maybe...mine is older and works better? But mine works great for my wife when she is cutting my hair (neck area, sideburns around ears .etc.) and for me when trimming body hair. No issues at all. Not with the cutting itself or electronics.I clean and oil my blades after every use (small brush, 3in1 oil). I would advise that with any hair trimmer. I have replaced my blades twice since 2014, again...just regular planned maintenance. The replacement blades are right here on Amazon too. Just to be clear and set expectations....This is not going to shave you like a razor if that's what you are expecting.So, unless they changed something since 2014 or outsourced components...take care of it and it will work fine for years. The unit works well. Have not had any issues with the trimmer. The awful score is because I believe that eceived a used device. I believe this because, as others have mentioned, I decided to take the trimmer apart after a few uses to clean it. Once inside, I discovered more hair that doesn't match the color of my hair. I'm very dark brown and this was red haired shavings throughout the inside of trimmers. I had read other reviews that stated that they were receiving used products bit thought that maybe that was an isolated issue.If you'd like to avoid this issue, simply find your closest Sally's store. You will pay a bit more but will get a brand new set.This isn't the first time I've gotten used merch. As of late, it's becoming a trend to get used electronics and appliances, and probably others, when they state that they are new.I never thought it would be Amazon that's shoving me back to the retail stores, but that is definitely what's happening.Buy at your own risk. I have been Barbering for 25 years and these are the best edgers period. But there is a major flaw in the switch that I have experienced for years.Sad Oster will not fix the problem. Ok so I can say that these work good for me for trimming neck lines, sideburns, and around the ears. However I’ve only used them once so far so I do not know how long they’ll hold up. My biggest complaint is I think these were used when I got them. I’m not quite sure but it looked like there was hair on it. I was told I had to wait almost two weeks to get them exchanged and that I had to pay for shipping. I didn’t have that much time nor did I want to pay for shipping and roll the dice. So I just disinfected these with rubbing alcohol and re oiled it. So I’m not happy about that but the product itself seems to be good. Read more

Product arrived definitely used! Blade has probably been replaced as that looks new. Hand held area is scratched and box was definitely opened and taken apart inside.Probably one of those Amazon sellers that buy stuff used and or damaged from stores and private sellers for cheap and turns around and sells on Amazon for a profit.I am a cosmetologist of 31 years and this is the only trimmer I’ve ever used so I know how it is packaged and looks when brand spanking new! As the rising cost at beauty suppliers for my equipment I decided to try Amazon. I was able to get this as a replacement as my last one is not working properly anymore . I was able to get this item $26 cheaper through amazon than I could anywhere else. Super quiet and cuts a nice line. I use them for work and they're pretty light weight. I've owned the same ones before....I feel like the quality of the materials have changed and they are a little cheaper feeling. The metal plate that has the 'Oster' written on it popped off after one week of using them. Low grade adhesive was holding it on, then it got a bunch of hair stuck to it and it hasn't stuck back properly to the trimmers since. So that was disappointing. Read more

I had the trimmer since 2014 and the blades stop working (hear the motor only) twice and fixed under warranty. it again broke few months back with same issue.I do not recommend this Finish Trimmer. I had Other Oster Hair Products and they all have been great except this. Read more
