I really wanted to love this carrier and had high expectations when I bought it mostly based on the great reviews as well as the price however, I was disappointed. I’d also like to add that I chose this model over the Deuter comfort plus because of the shade on the Poco Plus seems more practical since it has mesh on the sides to keep stuff out of the baby’s way and because the shade also appears more taught and pleasant to look at compared to that of the Deuter. My first impressions:-the black and white colors are nice and the product looks expensive-it’s big and bulky and takes up a lot of space even in the closed position-it’s cushioning is not great and the material in the baby’s area is rough—similar to an Infantino baby carrier. My daughter and nephew both cried as soon as I put them in this. There are several adjustment points but after trying for a few hours to get the right adjustment to where this thing wasn’t straining my neck, shoulders, or back with my 25 pound daughter in it, I was unable to find a comfortable position to fit my 5’2” frame. Trying was painful. There’s a handle on the part do the carrier where the baby’s chin rests and this faces the person carrying it. Well, this handle made it painful to look any way but down as it sat right at the nape of my neck regardless of what position each adjustment strap was at.The baby’s weight was not distributed evenly as I wore her around as I felt pressure in one shoulder but not the other or on one hip and not the other—to alleviate this, I would change the strap position and even then, the straps weren’t even when I did get them to a bearable position. One of the sides of this carrier was near impossible to close and it appears as though that particular side’s fabric was cut too short making it difficult to close shut as it should. After nearly losing a finger in trying to close this strap, I noticed a slight tear at the seams showing the fabric was pulled overly taught. My daughter is 21 months old and is in the 76th percentile for her height. The foot straps were too short to accommodate her height and we were unable to use them. The space on the bottom compartment of this carrier is big and I bet it would be useful for long hikes. The design of the shade was well thought out and the shade is easy to take out and tuck away.I expected this carrier to be comfortable for me to wear, adjustable to my size, easy to use, and convenient to carry. This carrier has none of these factors. I will be returning this. Read more
I've heard praises over the years on this carrier, the old and new versions. I was hesitant on investing in something with a large price tag, but since we love the outdoors and take our twin toddlers hiking a bit, I decided to try one after they outgrew the Ergo carriers. For comparison, both my husband and I tried this on. He's about 190 lbs and 5 ft 10 in. I'm half his size at 98 lbs and 5 ft exact. Compared to our simple Ergo carrier, this takes a bit of adjustment to get it to fit right. With my husband's size, he had no problems adjusting the carrier to fit him. Since we were used to the lightweight fabric carriers from before, this was a bit heavy for us. Our kids sat comfortably in this carrier without being pressed up against our backs. There is plenty of ventilation while our kids are in this carrier. They also get a shade cover, which is nice. When I tried on this carrier, I had more issues. The first being the weight. Although it is meant to be somewhat lightweight, it was still too much extra weight for me being a petite person. I've tried adjusting the carrier as much as I can, but due to my petite frame and small torso, this carrier could not sit comfortably on my back. By the time one of my kid hops on, I have to be leaning forward to balance out the weight. Even on a short hike, it is not comfortable for me and would likely hurt my back due to the way it sits and the weight of the carrier and my kid's body weight combined.Overall, this is a well built carrier that is sturdy. But I'm guessing for it to fit comfortably, you need to be a few inches taller than 5 ft tall and of decent weight. At the end of the day, this carrier didn't work out for us due to the fit and the weight. We ended up going with a toddler carrier similar to the one we had before. Read more
This is the best child carrier I’ve seen. It’s comfortable and lightweight. My daughter has so much room and is comfortable the entire time. She loves going on hikes and getting to ride in this! We also bought the rain cover to go with it. Read more
I did my due diligence on researching carriers before buying one. I wanted a nicer one that would last over the years and be solid for good long hikes. I debated the most between Dueter Kid Comfort Pro and Osprey Poco Plus. Here were the reasons for my decision:1. A little extra sturdiness. -- On the sides of the pack there is a bar in Poco Plus the the Dueter does not have. This makes the pack feel a little more solid, and less flimsy. It makes it a little easier to slide the pack on and off, which helps the safety of my child in the pack.2. More storage. -- I will admit this was initially just based off of pictures, but after receiving that pack I feel sound in the assumption. The way the storage compartment is designed on the Poco Plus is perfect. We can bring so much stuff! The utilization of space was well thought out.Other awesome things to note.- The sunshade on the pack is so easy to take out and put back in.- This pack has foot holders for the child, which helps so their feet don't fall asleep.- and well you look cool using it :)I debated on whether I should just buy a cheaper off brand pack, but I am so glad I got one with all the bells and whistles. It is so comfortable and well worth the money! Read more
Awesome carrier for hiking! My 9 month old loved riding in this carrier and was comfortable enough to fall asleep mid hike. The sun shade is a great feature and kept the baby very well protected on a sunny day. This carrier is well made, as expected from Osprey, and is also surprisingly light weight for it's size. There's a large selection of different pockets for storing gear and baby supplies which meant we could carry everything we needed for a long hike in one bag! Super happy with his purchase, worth the price! Read more
Read more
