It is a clarifying shampoo. I bought it because one of the reviewers said it would not strip the hair dye off of my hair, except in my case, it does. If you have your original hair color this is very good shampoo. I like the way my hair feels very clean, soft and light after using this shampoo. Really too soon to tell how this will affect my hair over the long haul; right now it does a nice job of cleaning my hair without any oily build-up and actually dries it out a little too much since my hair is not oily to begin with. Nice lather and rinses out fairly decently. My hair is very long but quite fine. I also bought the "conditioner" but it is not a normal conditioner but rather for use prior to styling with heated appliances (blowers, curlers, etc.) which I do not use so it was too greasy to continue using :-( as a conditioner even though I tried using only a small dab and working it through my hair.
