At first, I had the same experience as other reviewers: firecrackers on the gums. I was disappointed and determined to make this product work. What I decided to do was paint the gel onto my teeth with a paintbrush, and then put my trays in. This prevents the product from spreading and smushing against the gums, and totally works! Yeah it's uncomfortable to sit with trays in your mouth for an hour, but it's tolerable. I have used one syringe using this method and my teeth are actually getting whiter. Also, you use SO MUCH LESS this way, I feel like the four syringes will last me literally forever. I've whitened my teeth 6 times with just one syringe. And that's AFTER wasting almost half of the tube on the time it burnt my gums after 30 seconds. So those of you who can't make this work or are hesitant to buy it because of the reviews, PAINT IT ON WITH A PAINTBRUSH. Highly recommend this method. Read more

I struggled with how to review this product, and I'll explain why. I was given three options when I began whitening my teeth from my dentist. All I remembered was the brand (Opalescence) and that I chose the highest percentage option. Fast forward to a year later, I don't remember the specific percentage, but knowing it was the highest, I found 35% on this site being the highest available. So I proceed with the order of this product. Within 2-3 seconds of putting this on, my gums are burning like WHOA!. I'm pretty tough, but I didn't' last with this in my trays for more than 30 seconds. The photo is of my teeth right after removing the trays. The gums were inflamed, white, and appeared to have separation from my teeth. The result was worse than you can see in the photo. They went back to normal within 30 minutes or so. All that being said, I called my dentist, and turns out they don't offer the 35% version, so the 'highest' version I chose was only 20% (which never has caused this), because that was the highest they offer. The product is described accurately, and I don't feel giving less than a 4-star review is the right thing to do. I bought the wrong product. Just be careful that you're ordering the proper product. I don't understand the 'fake' comments. Just because it burned your gums? That's not the sole factor that could make it fake, Karen...I've used this a few times over the past couple years and haven't had problems. I also don't liberally use it each time. I follow directions and just put a drop of it at the base of each tooth's tray molding, and sometimes a bigger drop for my front teeth, cuz they're huge. Then you put the tray on, tap it a bit on each tooth so it spreads, and you're done for now. When you use an excess amount, the gel reaches the gums and burns them. I personally wipe away any excess that pops out of the tray and onto my gums with a finger or cotton swab. I've had good results with these!Also it'd be weird if it was fake because my dentist literally told me he buys it from here, and that's the only way I know about it. Read more

Great price and defiently seems authentic to me! I've only whitened my teeth one time so far and have also been using the opalescence toothpaste that is available. I have to say my teeth are noticeably brighter. Also I feel like my teeth got whiter over a 48hr period from when I whitened. I'm really curious to see with 2 or 3 more sessions. I left it on for 30 minutes and did my top teeth separate from the bottom so my mouth wasnt full with trays. Depending on your gums it will burn and tingle them if you get too much on them. No need to freak out when you have some on your gums and it turns them white. It goes away quick. But that is expected with this 35% carbamide peroxide with burning. Just try and be mindful to not get too much on your gums. The key is to try and get next to none on them. If you want white teeth this stuff will indeed get the job done. Like I mentioned my teeth look whiter now about 48hrs after bleaching compared to when I was spitting the gel out in the sink and rinsing my mouth with water after the 30mins and looking at my teeth in the mirror. Im sure I will be good with 1 of 2 more whitening sessions. For my first session I only needed/used about 1/4 of one of the gel syringes. So the 4 tubes will last a while. I would also say this.. buy legit brand name whitening products that you are putting onto your teeth and into your mouth. I used to buy this whitener from the dentist and it was fantastic. I’ve used 6+ tubes now and not a shade different. disappointed as I hate having trays in my mouth and flushing money down the drain. I don’t know what’s going on with this company and their resale of this whitener, but some how it’s not the real thing. As others have mentioned the same problem. I have sensitive teeth and another name brand just kills my teeth after I use them. I thought I’d give opalescense a try and also got custom whitening trays made from my dentist. I’ve used a total of one tube (about 3-4 sessions). The first time I did overfill my trays and burned some of my gum. It healed up quickly and I tried again the next week with less gel in the trays and it worked great. If I had any advice it would be that you really only need a very tiny amount to get results and to not end up with sensitivity. I had never used a product with this high a percentage of whitening and was concerned it would be irritating. I left it on about 35 minutes and experienced NO irritation. The gel stayed put in the tooth trays with barely any leakage and the results were excellent for one usage. I am very satisfied with this product and will continue to use it. Read more
