I am usually a skeptic when it comes to supplements. Many (most?) are advertised as having great benefits, based on little more than opinion. Anti-oxidants are somewhat different as they have more of a basis in evidence-based medicine. In my case, I find that grape seed extract provides a couple of concrete benefits.First, and this is not something that I am bragging about, but it is all but impossible to get a hangover when taking this product on a daily basis. I have convinced 2 other people to use this product and they report the same results.Second, it does seem to help with allergies. Between taking grape seed extract and consuming fresh ginger on a daily basis, I have been able to dramatically reduce my Claritin-D consumption. I had read an article that Grape Seed Extract may help fade melasma. I've had melasma on my face, brown patches on my forehead and cheeks, for over 15 years. I never leave the house without make-up/foundation. I've tried various hydroquinone fade creams, Retin A and other products attempting to get rid of the brown patches on my face (I have fair to medium skin). I use high SPF sunscreen religiously every day, winter and summer, but the brown patches still appear, and are always darker in the summer. I purchased this Grape Seed Extract at the beginning of the summer in hopes that it might help. I've been taking two capsules per day, for the past 5 months or so. At first I noticed that the brown patches didn't darken as they normally would during the summer. Eventually the melasma patches became paler, now the patches are the palest they have ever been in 15 years, much closer to my skin color. I can use much less make-up/foundation to even out the look of my skin. The only difference in my usual skin care routine has been taking two of these Grape Seed Extract capules every day for the past 5 months, I've gone through several bottles. I am quite convinced that my significantly improved skin tone is likely a result of taking the Grape Seen Extract. I don't know what has changed, but my most recent bottle definitely changed. The pills are filled with a powder that isz a different color, and after only a week of use my fingernails are cracking and splitting (the whole reason I use grape seed extract is because I have weak nails and it keeps them strong). The capsules that contain the grape seed extract do not break down well enough in your system so does not allow the contents to be absorbed through your intestines and then into your body. I’m not sure what they are composed of but does not seem to be gelatin caps, which break down the best. Read more
