i have taken L-lysine for over 20 years to keep fever blisters from flaring on my chin. I have used many (usually walmart) brands during that time and have always had success with preventing or stopping them from forming. I took your product for several weeks and noticed a fever blister trying to flare, so added extra to my regimen of your product. It did not stop them from flaring. So...i went to walmart and bought some l-lysine, stopped yours, and started taking the walmart brand. within two days, the flare was gone. If you read the first part of the description you are given the impression that you are being offered 500 capsuled of 1000mg strength. Only at the end of the description does it tell you that there are only 500 mg per capsule. 1000 is the adult recommended daily dosage -- so you have to take two capsules to get that. I have used L-Lysine for years and decided to try ordering it from Amazon instead of buying my usual kind at the store. I always get 1000mg pills and thought that was what I was ordering. They are actually 500mg with a 2 pill "serving". That doesn't work well for me because I take at LEAST 1000mg at a time. I don't want to be taking 4 capsules on the days when I need 2000mg at a time. I realize I made an error in not reading as carefully as I should have, but I find this to be deceptive. I didn't pay attention to the label so I failed to note that each capsule is 500 units vs. the 1,000 I originally thought. However, it is nothing to worry about....swallowing 2 at a time is easy with these capsules. The bottle is HUGE but I consider it to be a very good value and will buy again whenever I finish this one......next year or so maybe! Read more

This is the best L-Lysine supplement I have gotten they work really fast for endurance. But don’t let the 1000mg mislead you they are 500mg capsules so you will have to take two of them for 1000mg (that’s a serving) They are easy to swallow about medium in size. Read more

I am using this L-Lysine to give to my cats to boost their immune system as recommended by the vet. I was previously using the tablet versions and I had to crush the pills up to mix into their food. With these capsules all I have to do is easily pull the capsule apart and it is already in a very nice fine powder form. They are in 500mg capsules which is perfect for me because I am supposed to give each cat 500mg daily. The price on this large bottle is substantially cheaper then some other brands. My family and I decided to eat a plant-based/whole foods diet earlier this year and began to notice our "gum health" was not the same as it was before. Someone we knew who also had done a plant based diet had also mentioned irritation in their gums. With a little research we discovered that now that we were missing cheese and dairy and eggs and fish, we were probably not getting enough Lysine. So we went to Walmart and bought some over the counter Lysine tablets. Well they were large enough to choke a horse and tasted horrible, so we knew we needed another solution. Like a superhero, along came these capsules to save the day. They seriously were a lifesaver! Easy to swallow and great at providing the needed Lysine addition to our dietary choice. I have noticed significant improvement in my gum health and after recently going to the dentist, he didn't notice anything bad (they normally don't with us but hey, maybe the Lysine helped!)The only thing that is kind of a bummer is that the capsules are made with gelatin which is an animal product. So, with sticking with a plant based/whole foods diet, it does go against in a minimal way, but the ease of use and the incredible difference in form compared to the tablets from Walmart may be worth the compromise.
