3 mg is a popular dose of Melatonin, and bigger is not unusual.And so, I am surprised that 1 mg puts me to sleep, usually.Regarding the Now 1 mg dual release, I once read that 3/4 mg is delivered immediately, and 1/4 mg is delivered in, I think, about 4 hours later. But on the Now website, the delivery chart was missing.My sweety had the problem of waking up around 2 AM. Usually, one of these would keep her sleeping until morning.And assuming that 3 mg and bigger is safe, you could conceivably take two or more of these pills, but why waste your money? Also, a real doctor once told me that 1 to 1 1/2 mg simulates the amount of Melatonin naturally occurring in the body, and he advised against taking more. Read more

I have major insomnia from a new terrible prescription. 30 minutes sleep first night, ran all day no need for sleep, don't trust myself to drive like this, though, next night 8, next night 5 hours. Usually I'm strict 7-8 from 11ish to 730. Hate being off schedule. Dr said 2mg melatonin as I'm very sensitive. It's working! They said take 30 minutes before bed but seems to take longer than that. I love this product! It is the right dose of medicine to help me get a restful night of sleep on most nights. Sometimes I do have to take more than one usually two does the job. Highly recommended if you have stomach issues because I do and it helps a lot. This product has nutrients that help the stomach. Read more

I sometimes use melatonin to get to sleep. It's my understanding that more of this is not better. That's why they sell it in 1 mg tablets. I had a friend who used it and he still wasn't getting much sleep. I asked how much he took and he said 9 mg. My own experience is that 1 mg is enough.I am a Now Foods brand fan. Read more
