Let me start by saying, I don't work for this company. I wasn't given anything for free. I was not paid to leave this review!! I say this, bc you can never trust reviews anymore. I'm an honest customer who bought this item full price & is leaving an honest review!YES IT'S GROSS:Unlike some ppl I've seen on here, I refuse to give it low stars because of the bad taste. It's not like your buying candy! Yes, it's gross. It tastes like you are eating grape maple syrup out of an old, rusty spoon. I actually tilt my head back and let it pour down my throat. I can still taste it, but it's way better than just spooning it into your mouth. I highly recommend doing it this way.MY STORY:I'm a 34 yrs old female. 5 yrs ago, I had low iron, but now I'm very anemic. My energy level has gotten worse & worse over the years as my iron levels have dropped. I never consistently took iron pills (1-2 pills every other month), because I didn't like how it made me feel backed up. Plus made my poop black. Getting enough iron in my diet is insanely hard, so I think that's why it's gotten worse. The last few months I was basically fed up with being tired all the time & tried looking for options to get a lot of iron without being constipated. That's when I heard about taking liquid iron. And here we are!!FIRST WEEK OF TAKING IT:After 2 days, I felt a difference in my energy level. I was crazy busy & running around all over the place. Normally I would be tired by noon doing HALF of the stuff I was doing, but I actually felt like I had energy all day! I was shocked by this, bc I was pretty skeptical. The whole week seemed awesome, until the end of the week when I forgot to take it for 2 days. I noticed an increase in my fatigue! Maybe it was a busy week, but I swear I'm convinced I was extra tired bc I didn't have my iron.THE POOP SITUATION:Unlike what I was lead to believe, I DID get constipated & my poop DID black. But those first 48 hours of taking it & having energy were so magical, that I decided to outweigh the good with the bad. After a few short days, I think my body adapted & everything seems totally normal in my system. My poop is definitely still black, but I'm going No2 smoothly. It makes me wonder if my body would have adjusted had I just taken my iron pills more than 3 days in a row, but overall I'm 100% positive I never felt energized so quickly with my iron pills as I do with this liquid stuff. So I'm happy w my decision in taking it.MY ANEMIA:Overall, I can only say what this has done to my energy levels. But I cannot say what it's done to my iron levels/anemia, though I'm very curious to know. I do plan on getting blood work done in the next month & I will happily leave an updated review. But for now, I will say I love it!-------UPDATE/EDIT: I got my bloodwork back & the doctor said my blood count was normal. I haven't had a doctor tell me this in years!! I'M NOT ANEMIC ANYMORE! Nothing in my diet or daily life has changed EXCEPT for this liquid iron!! My energy already confirmed this, but glad that the doctor was able to give me my proof w my bloodwork! =) WISH I COULD GIVE IT 20 MORE STARS!!!!!! Read more

WARNING: Please read- Do NOT combine this supplement with vitamin CReviewed in the United States on January 21, 2018Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)CAUTION- PLEASE READ: This supplement contains a preservative called sodium benzoate, which, when combined with Vitamin C/citric acid, can create and release a known carcinogen called benzene. The latter is a cancer-causing chemical associated with leukemia and other blood cancers.Google it, you'll find tons of info on it.Unfortunately, it's a cheap preservative for companies to use. It's especially disconcerting that it would be put in an iron supplement, because the most common vitamin taken with iron is vitamin C, due to the fact that it helps absorption. (You'll often see vitamin C added to iron supplements for this reason.)I really hope that one day the sketchy preservatives will be better regulated. Whatever you do, don't take this item with Vitamin C!! I am putting my pennies towards a safer supplement. I hope that others do too. Sooo not worth the potential for accidentally creating cancer/leukemia causing carcinogens(!!) - To me at least.Wishing you good health! Read more

Even after having taken solid and chelated iron pills for months, I still had critical iron numbers, so I purchased this and take it along with Ferritin Tablets (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00014ECFO/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00014ECFO&linkCode=as2&tag=4abettelife&linkId=05e3444c188fee00d3e841cb8fab7ae9 )It comes in a box with a marked plastic measuring spoon (nice!).I take it on an empty stomach, at least an hour before a meal. I chase it with 12 ounces of orange juice (details below). I am careful to take it separate from calcium, or magnesium, or zinc - I understand these can interfere with iron absorption. If I take my multi-vitamins in the morning, I do the iron at night, or vice versa.Within DAYS I could tell my iron levels were improving. I could breathe more easily, my energy levels were much much higher, and I could do triple the exercises I did days before.I love this product. It's pleasant to the tongue. (I do chase it with a glass of orange juice, because iron absorbs better when taken with vitamin C, and because it prevents nausea).I will tell you though, I titrated my does (started with half the dose, then worked my way up as my body got used to it), because iron is really hard on the system (very oxidizing to the stomach and intestines). The first day I took it, I didn't take it with enough liquid and within 20 minutes I was very nauseous. But it was bearable, only lasted 40 minutes, then went away completely. Then I started chasing it with 8-12 ounces orange juice, with much less nausea.I do NOT recommend mixing the iron into the orange juice. 1. It's icky sweet together and 2. the iron can stain your teeth, or so I've read. I spoon the iron into the back of my mouth, swallow it, then drink my OJ.For a week, after each dose I had slight sternum discomfort (this is a well-documented side-effect of iron-loading, and was for me proof positive it was working. It calmed down after about a week. It has not happened since my body has built up my iron numbers.)To reduce the harsh oxidizing effects on the stomach and intestines, I also take a variety of anti-oxidants with it (omega 3, ALA, and EGCG).For maximum absorption, I also take 1 ounce of water with vitamin c because 12 oz OJ isn't enough Vit C to ensure there's enough immediately available Vit C for max iron absorption. For what it's worth, I did do research on whether the body absorbs more iron if you take higher doses, and the answer seems to be, "not so much". They even say absorption seems better if you only take it once a day, not twice. So if you have nausea on the full dose, you may do just as well iron-loading with the 1/2 dose.I do intend to update my post when I have my newest blood test numbers to show the before-and-after, but I need 3 months for that.I bought a second bottle, will purchase again.Highly, Highly Recommended. I have taken NovaFerrum liquid iron for 3 months. My serum ferritin level started out at a 3!!Just got recent lab results back and my ferritin is now a healthy 106!!!This, along with one iron infusion, has helped my anemia SIGNIFICANTLY!!!I take NovaFerrum with an 8oz glass of Emergen-C for better absorption.(Do not take with orange juice, as most o.j. contains calcium-which negates the action of iron)I surprisingly had multiple doctors tell me to take iron with orange juice!Bottom line: fabulous product!I feel like I have my life back!
