I knew there was nothing else wrong with my child as this was a genetic problem for us. I didn’t want to go down the medical path with unnecessary tests that I know my friends have done. First I want to point out that I am not familiar with the exact technology that is in this alarm system. In saying that I do feel like this whole system is over priced. While I do understand that it is a long term investment in your child's overall progress it still feels a little expensive. Moving on the setup was easy and something I think most parent's could figure out. The instructions are good and I do think even more technology challenged people could follow the instructions in the manual and get it set up in a reasonable amount of time. If your child still sleeps in a toddler bed or twin bed the mat is large enough. If they have moved on to a double or a queen it might be too small. A lot of that is going to depend on how much they move around. For those who's children tend to sleep fairly still it probably won't be an issue but anyone who's child really moves around might find them rolling off the mat on a larger bed which defeats the purpose. It is also worth noting this isn't for small children. So if you think you are buying this to be used by your 3 year old as a guide to potty train them over night it isn't designed for that. This is meant to be used by older children who struggle to wake up at night when they need to go. Those that are already completely potty trained but sleep to deeply to ensure they always wake up when they need to go. It will help by training them to wake themselves up when they get that need to go feeling.Overall I do think this is a good system and after doing research on the method it appears to be very effective and something studies back as and effect method of helping with those heavy sleepers. I just think that based on the factors of length of use ( it says they need it for around 3 months ) size of the mat ( not large enough for kids who really move around ) I am not sure that the price is where it needs to be. Anyone who has a child that wets the bed knows how frustrating it is, and I know personally I would try anything to get it to stop. We have tried tons of products and various recommendations without much luck. Most of the products just make it easier to clean up but don’t actually help stop it from happening! So when I came across this Nightollie I was intrigued and excited to give it a try.Unfortunately though we have been having some issues with this product. First, my 8 year old son that I got this for has a queen sized bed. Plus he moves around a ton at night time as well. So what ends up happening is that since the pad is small he ends up either missing most of the mat, or sometimes even all of it. For the price I feel like they should have included a much bigger pad, or given the option to get a larger pad if your child has a larger bed.Luckily the owl does wake my son up when the pad gets wet, it’s just that it doesn’t always get on the pad! I just feel like this product could have been amazing but ended up missing the mark because of the size of the pad. While everything included does feel like it’s well made with quality materials, I just can’t help but feel like this is very expensive for something that may or may not work for your child. I will admit that I'm not very knowledgeable about this product genre and how it treats bed wetting. I thought that if it alerts when it occurs, then it's too late. But, the significant other explained how it trains, causes behavioral modification by making the child aware of the earlier signs, and eventually will wake up and go the bathroom. Well, the proof is in the fact that it's a proven method to deal with nocturnal urination.She took this product to her cousin that has a few young children. Apparently they've been discussing this issue recently. So, she went to show her and set it up, on her 7-8 year old son's bed. Fortunately, I didn't have to go.She came back home, and said that setting it up was easy. And the son liked the owl. (Even though it's named Night Ollie, he chose to call it "Huey"...as in hoo hoo hooey. haha). She said that before they installed it in his bed, they did a quick test, putting a cloth napkin over the mat, and dripping water on it. It set off the alarm, as promised.So, it does perform as expected. Actual results won't be attained overnight. It's a gradual process, so patience and understanding are key. In fact, they provide a booklet, "Power to Me" which helps provide positive reinforcement during the training process. I feel it's a good, smart, comprehensive process to deal with a bed wetting instance.Keep in mind that the product is intended for children 7 years and older.Overall, it's a very credible and well designed product.
