I began using this dye because I used to struggle with extreme chemical sensitivities and it was all that I could tolerate. Thanks to doing a program called "Meadow Healing" I no longer have those sensitivities and am able to get my hair colored at a salon now. I do professional highlights twice a year at the salon, but began to get white hairs a few years ago. My stylist had to try 3 different base colors before we found one that would color my white hairs - they're resistant. Her other professional dyes would wash out in three washes!While we finally found one that works for when I see her, in between visits I use this. While I don't react to chemicals anymore, I do still love that this is natural and hasn't seemed to damage my hair at all. But more importantly, it also covers my white hairs!! They literally STAY covered forever. I only re-color my roots every three weeks due to grow out. I measure it out in table spoons and mix it with a brush so I can get a few uses out of one box. Just make sure to reseal the containers really tight.To get my natural color, I have to mix 2 parts of 4n with one part 5n. 4n will color your hair much darker than it appears on the box. My hair is VERY dark brown naturally - and 4n made it look black to my eye. I needed to soften it up. I dislike brassy tones and usually use cool tones, but this works perfectly for me. Read more
