We always clean our toys when our daughter is done playing. Just after a few months, we saw the toy started to grow black stuff and mold so we threw it away. I would stay away from this toy unless you only want it for a couple of months. It's hard to clean because the arms have holes that we are unable to clean. If the outside is looking like this, then imagine what the inside looks like since we are unable to clean the inside. Read more

We got this toy today, my 1 year old daughter got so excited when she saw the toy, I gave it to her to play with and as all 1 year olds first thing she did was put it in her mouth. About 15 min later she brought it back to me and I noticed that the paint on the penguin's legs was coming off. I was thrilled to get this for her to play in the bath, but given that the paint is coming off, it's not safe for a baby. I am disappointed, why would you paint a toy that's designed for kids who stick everything in their mouth. Read more

The media could not be loaded.  I will say first off, they are bigger than I had anticipated. I bought for stocking stuffers thinking they would be like the size of your typical wind up toy and they are bigger lol.One of the cheapest things purchased and one of their favorites. Bevause they are so big I'm not sure how much swimming room it would have in the bathtub but it would be great in a pool too. I let them test it in the sink Christmas night, the following day I had a six year old asking if he could get a bath yet practically the moment I walked in the door after work!I'm sure eventually they will start to mold as its hard to get water out of bath toya like rhis or rubber duckies, and I will purchase another at that point if the kids are still so into them. They only swim for so long after wind up and some times they go crooked and bump into the aides of the tub, when they race one usually goes off track but it is honestly a lot better than I expected, i expected it to not really swim at all to be honest I was pretty surprised to see it go around the sink so well the first day. As expected, the first place this toy went was in my 9 month old's mouth. And almost immediately the paint started to come off in his mouth too. He's got 4 teeth and was easily able to scratch the paint. Thinking it was a one-off, I tested it with my fingernail and it came off with no effort. We hadn't researched the product much, just thought it was cute. But now that I've read more reviews, and see others reporting the same issue, I think Munchkin should consider recalling this item. It's really cute and the action in the tub is fun, but we don't want our baby ingesting paint, toxic or not. Read more

We bathe with a little coconut oil in the water. Evidently all of the paint on this toy comes off with oil. My little guy was sucking on it and I see he has paint all over his mouth... Since he loves the toy so much I ended up removing all the paint with some coconut oil on a washcloth. The toy is now blue and white with sticker eyes. Needless to say, it's not great when your kid is ingesting some unknown paint :/ Read more

He's cute and his little arms twist up and swim him around but he fills with water, fast. Then he isn't strong enough to swim around anymore and gives me concern about mold inside (he does not come apart). I try to empty the water after each bath but cannot certain ask the water came out. This thing is awful! I would have returned it if it were more expensive but I threw it away instead. Don't waste your time or money. Mine never moved through the water, it didn't have enough force to move the flippers once submerged, also paint was peeling when we got it and it fills with water. Yuck Read more

Got this for the grandkids to have races in the pool, but while it is cute as can be, it's really pretty slow.It takes on water, and just isn't strong enough to go very far, once you release it. Mostly, it just spins around and splashes a bit. Good for babies, but not so much for the kids who would be strong enough to wind it themselves. My youngest (4) is able to wind it herself. She did think it was cute, and loved it at first sight, but once she realized it wasn't going to go very far, she lost interest pretty quickly.I'd gotten two, and both kids wanted to love them, but the same fate for both. They did stand up to the dropping onto the cement, once they got the boot from the pool, though, and I was concerned they'd break, as little care was taken in the removal process.Pros:It's a heavy duty, smooth plastic, with solid construction. The flapping works well enough, & even little ones can work it, after you show them.Cons:As it takes on water, it can't combat the weight - and it takes on water pretty quickly. Read more

I don't know if i got a broken one but we can wind it for forever and nothing happens. It's a shame as I'm usually a big fan of Munchkin's products but this one just seems expensive for just sitting there doing nothing? Read more
