All my life, I have wanted a rubber ducky. I may be 60 years old but now I finally have fulfilled my dream of having a rubber ducky of my own. I know this sounds ridiculous. However, until you actually have a rubber ducky sitting on the edge of your bath tub, you really do not know the joy of seeing it there every day. Although I don't use the temperature feature, it is a great thing if you have little kids although I am not sure why you can't just stick your hand in the water to make sure it is cool enough for them. After all, I would trust my own hand before I would trust a rubber ducky I hardly even know. Super good quality material and appearance. I highly recommend this item. Read more

What can you say about a rubber ducky? It floats, it squeaks and it's shaped like a ducky! Perfect for kids bath time. I got a few of these for my mother with Alzheimer's to trick her into taking a bath more often, as she has become claustrophobic and argues about bathing anymore. Oh the things we do for our kids/parents. I hope my kids will do the same for me when I am 80 and need to be entertained in the tub. Read more

For such a simple and inexpensive product, this thing is one of the most durable and valuable things my 19mo has in the bath. What I love about this item compared to competitive products is that there are no pinholes to draw water in. As many parents know, mildew growth is a problem with some rubber bath toys as there’s no good way to clean them other than a mild bleach solution to kill the growth inside. And even that’s not a comfortable fix to the problem of mildew. Now Munchkin figures this out. The presumed statement of, “let’s seal the darn thing up,” must have been met with roaring applause after the Munchkin executives heard it. Then I imagine the designer adding, “and we can put a bath temperture safety puck on the bottom to let parents know at a glance if their kid is about to be boiled alive in the bath.” Yes and yes, well done Munchkin!!!Bottom line, get this duck for your kid(s), your friend’s kid(s), the kid(s) you’re considering having, or your inner kid / Ernie. It’s inexpensive, genius, and of great quality. Read more

I used this for a topper for a duck theme baby shower cake. It was so inexpensive and looked great on the cake. I liked that they can take it off the cake and use it when the baby arrives as a special remembrance of the baby shower.Without having used it for the purpose it has meant for (in the bathtub) I can only say that the packaging was nice, it seemed very well made and my experience with this companies products for my own children have always been great. This doesn't do the 1 thing it's supposed to, tell you if water is a safe temperature for a baby. It says "HOT" on the bottom at room temperature. The indicator does turn a brighter white when in hot water, but that's not helpful. Also, it's not BPA free, so it really shouldn't be anywhere near people, let alone a child who is likely to put it in their mouth. How on earth does this have 4.5 stars? It was cheap, well reviewed, and from a major brand, and yet I wish I had read the comments first. Sigh. I'll use my infrared thermometer to test my water, but this seemed much more convenient. So, this little guy floats around and lets me know if the water is too hot. Pretty basic, right? One might be offended, thinking what the heck, I can tell the temperature of water for Pete's sake, but I, having grown up in the glorious days of hand-washed dishes, am said to be made of Teflon. I can pick up blazing hot coffee and sip it right out of the pot. I've been known to yank hot soup out of the microwave with my bare hands. Is that pizza done yet? Let me stick my finger in it. Given that, I feel rather disqualified to determine water temp for my wee little newborn. The duck is nice. The duck is cute. The duck says HOT when my seared-to-the-point-of-unfeeling flesh says, "Meh, feels a little tepid." The duck keeps me from scalding my wee one. I do love the duck. If you're a lava-coffee sipping, hot-dish-washing mom like me, you'll want the duck. Read more

I used to have a turtle thermometer to test the temperature in my kid's bath. That would tell you if the water was cold, warm, or hot, and the actual temperature. It broke (through no fault of the company) and I was in search of a replacement. I figured that I didn't actually need all of those features, I just needed to know if/when the water was too hot. I take pretty hot showers personally and feel that my internal temperature check is a bit off. This duck was a huge disappointment. The color at the bottom is supposed to change when the water is too hot, but it is a very slight change. Sometimes the water feels too hot to me, but the duck won't change until it's been sitting in the water for a while. When dealing with young children, this is simply unacceptable Read more

I did not read item description thoroughly, I just needed a rubber duck for home sale pictures. Noticed when I got it that it warns of dangerously hot water for toddlers... I thought neat as I have a toddler might as well test it.On the bottom it changes color to let you know if water is hot. The blue spot turns white if very hot. So you would have to pick it up turn upside down and look if color changed... How useful is that? Why not since you are 1 foot away from kids water just stick your hand in the water to test it?Pics are; cold duck (pic 1), floaty duck (pic 2), Ouchy burned duck (pic 3). (nail clipper for scale)It would make big brained sense to make the whole duck turn red if water is too hot. Or make the duck electronic with an alarm if temp over 110 degrees F??? There is some free R&D advice for you.So again, cool rubber ducky play toy 10/10. Something to warn you of hot water -10/10 completely useless. Read more

Awwwwww I honestly just got this because it is (at the time) the most reasonably priced bath duck I can find. ***Note** duck looks as on sellers photo. Beak is rounded not shaped as seen on some older reviews***Its super sturdy, floats well and I didn't want it to squeak as those are harder to clean. My baby is still small And i just wanted something colourful in the bath as I love taking her baby bath photos and this rests perfectly on her to get pictures without making her feel completely exposed. As for the temperature system, it's quite sensitive and my baby is now used go water on the warmer side. This is probably not the best method to check water temp. It works by changing the colour of the loveheart from bkue to white. This changed to white frkm both ambient running water and boiled hot water from a kettle (I tested)It just takes longer to revert back to blue if its too hot so I think you're better off doing the elbow dip to be sure. But after some time you'll begin to get an idea of what your baby likes. My baby loves a bath but she'll usually cry a little the first few seconds. It takes a few seconds or minutes for her to realise she is safe and just bath time.So as i said not the best way to check the temp -use a thermometer for that if you want absolute accuracy but it makes an awesome first bath duck to have. I really like it. It's makes a great prop to sing duck songs with. Waddle waddle.. Read more

My daughter for some strange reason is mad about ducks and even her first word was duck not mummy or daddy so she now has quite a big collection of bath time ducks to play with but I wanted another to add to her collection and saw this one with the temperature indicator not really something I was looking for as I find the back of my hand or an elbow more than sufficient but as it looked nice and of good quality with a reasonable price so I went for it.It is very good quality and no leaks, I did test the duck in some hot water and it worked I just feel it doesn’t really give a good enough indication of temperature and in my opinion not really accurate enough to rely on.What I liked************- Very good quality- Good price- My daughter loves itWhat I Didn’t Like*****************- In my opinion not accurate enough to rely onSummary**********My daughter loves this and I didn’t really get it for the heat testing feature that was just an added extra that in my opinion fails but that said it’s no more expensive than other ducks I looked at and it is indeed very good quality, my daughter would not let it go now and it’s the first duck she looks for at bath time so for that reason I am not being too harsh and giving it 4 stars. Bought this for baby due in January as I don't trust my own elbows (having had scorching hot baths myself for years, nothing really feels too hot to my elbow). Decided to try it out when getting a bath myself (for the same reason, baths aren't meant to be above body temperature when pregnant). I found the indicator on the bottom didn't even appear the same as the one in the picture, there is heart shape in white with hot (which remains blue) inside of it. As you can see from the pictures, there's a decent amount of "whiteness" to both of them, one having been ran under cold water and one in a hot bath. The indicator seems to become a brighter white as heat increased but there's no difinitive change point (at around 37°C) so not really any use as you would initially need to determine how white it is at 37 to make accurate use of it. It would have only received 1 star however on reading other people's reviews it has dawned on me that the lack of hole in it mean no mould and that it will be long lasting, so I shall keep hold of it purely as a toy. Was it not for the reviews I would have been giving it to the dog as a toy! Read more

Its a good little bath toy, but as a temprature gage I personally didn't find it that helpful as it felt more cold then actually warm to me. When used alone so I got a digital bath gage to compare it to which is obvious that the digatal would be better. But that being said I had the bath at 37°c and the duck only slightly went a little faded not the strong white so its just a little off, other then that for its price its pretty good and cute. The Rubber duck is also a nice size and quite sturdy. Read more

If you want a rubber duck for the bath, this is great. Our baby girl loves seeing this little chap at bath time.If you want something to tell you if the water is too hot, get something else. The hot logo is always visible and takes some judgement and debate as to whether or not it’s changed to indicate it’s too hot or if just got wet.As a consequence, we’re back to the good old fashioned elbow for our temperature assessments.
