One of the midwifery practices where I live recommended this online to help in preparation for childbirth. I had a c section two years ago and I was looking for natural solutions that would help with childbirth in terms of strengthening my uterus and softening my cervix. I wouldn’t dilate past 5.5 cm with my first pregnancy and that was after being given pitocin. I wanted a natural birth with no epidural but ended up having to have a c section. Long story short I decided to try gentle birth with my second pregnancy. I began taking it at 36 weeks pregnant and took it all the way until I literally went into labor (gestational age when I delivered my baby was 39 weeks 6 days). I labored for 2 days with my first pregnancy but with my second pregnancy I labored for less than a day. My labor was much shorter and I arrived at the hospital already 8 cm dilated and COULD NOT believe it (I labored at home as long as I could with the support of my doula and the hospital was an hour away with traffic). I had a successful VBAC and natural birth with no pain meds. I would be a spokes person for gentle birth in a heartbeat. It helped me have the birth I always wanted. Gentle birth lived up to every claim it made. I would definitely recommend this product but I especially recommend it to mothers who had a c section before and are hoping for a successful VBAC. I’m a first time mom, my natural home birth was less than 7 hours, from my first contraction to delivery, 1 day before due date. I would describe my labor and delivery as painless. I started taking this at 37 weeks per midwives recommendation. I actually finished the whole bottle by the time I delivered, I know most women don’t. I felt great taking it and didn’t mind the original taste at all. I will be taking for the rest of my babies and recommend it to everyone pregnant. Read more
Just delivered my baby, #4, yesterday and wanted to write a review. Have been taking this since 36 weeks. This product helped so much! I went into labor at 9:30pm and the baby came at 1:40 am. Every contraction was more and more intense. When I got to the hospital, I was still at 2cm 70% effaced. On the way up to the delivery room I felt my water pop. Within 30 min I had my baby. The doctor was barely able to get her gloves on to assist the baby out. It was so fast they couldn’t even get the epidural person there in time. No tearing at all.By far, easiest smoothest delivery. Along with this, I used evening primrose oil starting at 37 weeks. I was overdue and decided that even though they do no recommend drinking rrl tea, I would drink a cup to see if it would kick this baby into gear. And I think it did. Before we left for the hospital I took orally 2 evening primrose oil pills. I also used essential oils sparingly when I hit my due date, clary sage, spikenard, and fennel. Applied it to lower belly, base of spine and areas on the feet that are connected with uterus. Lastly we also did the perineal stretch for couple weeks leading up to delivery. If I was going to have another baby, I would use this again. Baby #3, I used birth prep, which my body didn’t like as much because with the increase every week of pills I would become lightheaded after taking it. By far I like gentle birth formula more.I was very concerned using this because of the blue cohosh. From what I can tell, there wasn’t enough cohosh to cause trouble, but just enough to help my body have a smooth labor and delivery. We have had no negative effects, but use your best judgement.Hope this info helps. Read more
My midwife suggested I get the formula without blue cohosh because it’s a gray area in safety. I credit my four hour long labor to this product (for reference my first child was 28 hours and babies two and three were 8 hour labors. This was my fourth baby). I also think it helped me “skip” transition, the stage of labor where things get real and you cry that you can’t do it anymore and lose faith in yourself. I went from active labor to pushing and never had that experience. I also had false labor for over a week before finally having my baby on the Fourth of July. It was kind of frustrating but I think this tincture helped prepare my uterus for the quick labor I had. Read more
I used this product the last four weeks of my second pregnancy. I honestly wish I had heard about it for my first pregnancy because it could have saved me some serious pain and sped up healing for me.I know each pregnancy is different and delivies after the first are generally easier, but here are a few things that went better for me:1. I was dilated to a 2 at 38 weeks 4 days and had a bulging water. My doctor didn't think I would make it the weekend before my induction.2. Baby was very low late in pregnancy so he was ready to come out once I was fully dilated.3. I went from a 3 to a 10 in an hour during my induction. I went from a 7 to a 10 in 6 minutes.4. I felt great within minutes of giving birth. My last delivery left me exhausted and in serious pain for weeks.5. I did not tear with second delivery.6. Bleeding for my first pregnancy lasted about 6 weeks. Bleeding for second pregnancy lasted 3 weeks.Overall, I feel this product helped my body to prepare and recover faster. I would recommend to others and plan to use again for additional pregnancies. The taste is pretty terrible so I always mixed with orange juice to hide it. Read more
