Moonstone is great for keeping my kidney stones at bay but the price is a bit high. That being said I still have a packet everyday. If there was something similar for a more cost effective price I would not use this drink mix. But until then moonstone it is because it works! Read more
Out of nowhere I started having lower back pain. My GP sent me for a scan on Friday, and thank goodness she did. Ended up in the ER Sunday night feeling like I was birthing triplets the natural way. Since the ER doc could look at the test results he got me on morphine right away. Turned out I'd developed kidney stones. I was sent to a urologist who said I needed to drink 80 oz of lemon water every day. Still got kidney stones twice more, so 3 times in about 6 months. It was crazy. On my next appointment, the urologist said Moonstone was something new on her radar and suggested I try it. Amazingly, it worked! It's not inexpensive since you have to use it daily, but as anyone who's had stones before will tell you, its a bargain to avoid all the pain. I use one packet in a 24oz bottle of water. At that ratio it gives the water a hint of sweetness and flavor, perfect. I've never liked water but now have to drink a lot to keep the stones away. It's REALLY sweet when not diluted enough. If honest, I don't always hit that 80 oz.target, but NEVER miss drinking at least that first 24oz with Moonstone. So far, close to 2 years now, and it's done the trick. I use a product called Liquid IV from Costco (also way too sweet if not diluted enough) which says it makes 1 bottle equal to 3 of plain water. Who knows for sure about that claim, but it flavors the water enough that I do get at least 48ox down a day without having to buy and squeeze lemons all the time. Just got home from my yearly checkup and the urologist says I'm looking good. Read more

I like the lemon/lime flavor. I don't know if this is working, but it's still a good drink. Read more

These powdered drinks are preferable in my view than taking multiple large potassium citrate pills every day to prevent kidney stones. If they enhance general kidney function -- still not demonstrated -- that would be a major benefit. Because they taste ok, can be mixed with rum or vodka if you are sometimes so inclined, or seltzer for that matter, and with a good amount of ice they make a palatable refreshing once-a-day beverage. A little like drinking the Kool-Aid, it dissolves quickly, but doesn't make you a member of a cult. I don't think I would want to or afford to drink one a day, but my kidney stone problem has abated for years, just drinking a lot of water. For people who are producing frequent stones, this may be a very good prevention strategy, if you like or don't mind the flavors. I thought they were acceptable with ice, seltzer, and/or 16 oz of water. Read more
