I'm very impressed with this multi functional digital thermometer by MOBI. There is a removable snap on cap that makes transitioning between an ear and forehead temperature check easy. I find the cap easy to clean, making it a thermometer I can use on all family members.  There is also a mode that allows me to take the temperature of a food or liquid item.  By holding the thermometer near the item you wish to check (DO NOT SUBMERGE), a reading is fast displayed.  There are conveniently located side buttons and icons on the display that guide you to your desired selection.Another thing I noticed is that this device scans my body temperature, both ear and forehead almost instantaneously. There's seriously no lag time. You'll receive an audible alert when it records the temperature along with colored light and arrow further alerting if temperature is elevated. What really stood out to me is that the MOBI gives me time to position the device, take my body temperature, and read the display before automatically shuting off too soon.  It also stores previous temperature readings in the device along with providing a built-in timer function. I find the audible timer is ideal as it can be programed as an aid to remind me of a temperature recheck as well as any other actions where a timed reminder is useful.The MOBI is made of a strong plastic components and has a bright, easy to read display.  You can feel the quality as soon as you pick it up. Oh, and they thoughtfully included batteries so you're ready to go right out of the package. I do like infrared thermometers and have used them for years. The beauty of this particular one is that it’s a multi-function one. It’s targeted toward the infant and young child, but can be used by all ages. There are several different options for taking a temperature. I can use the forehead, ear, or can use it for an object. In the infrareds targeted toward the adult, they simply use body and surface.The thermometer basically comes ready to go. I simply pulled off the back of the battery cover and pulled a plastic tab. It has several icon indicators that let me know what temperature was being measured. For example, there was an ear icon that clearly indicated to me I was getting a reading from the ear. In the case of this thermometer, I do like the object feature as baby food or bath water temps can be taken. A real plus there.The user manual, or folded sheet of paper, is very comprehensive and clear. I experimented taking temperatures in several ways. The cap or cover needs to be on to measure temps from the forehead, but I tried it both ways. If I forget to put it on, there wasn’t a wide error margin. This thermometer has obviously been factory calibrated as it’s very accurate.The beep is quite audible, but not starling. Young children don’t always care for loud, unidentifiable noises, especially in their ears. There’s a good memory function (9 previous readings) as well as an LED indicator of what is called a temperature trend. This Mobi thermometer comes with detailed and easy to follow instructions. Each feature operates as advertised. When taking a person's body temperature, with the clear plastic cap in place, you touch the plastic covered tip to the center of the forehead and press the appropriate button to receive a temperature reading in about 1 second. If using the ear method, you take off the clear plastic tip cover and lightly touch the inside of the ear and again 1 second is all it takes. Note: Every time I compared the forehead to ear temperature reading, the ear reading was about 1/2 degree higher than the forehead reading. Knowing my usual daily temperature, I conclude that the ear temp. is the yielding the more accurate reading.This digital thermometer is also useful for measuring the temperature of my granddaughter's milk bottle.
