Just spray a little light mist of water on it and put it in the microwave for a few minutes. Then you get about 20 minutes of moist, warm, heat! The nice thing about these type of microwave bean bags is that they can be kept in the freezer and give lasting cold while still being able to mold to the body unlike gel packs. (just be sure to put them in a ziplock bag to avoid it absorb freezer scents). They are also convenient to heat in the microwave to give moist, long lasting heat. We find the heated versions great for monthly cramps, sports pain, warming feet, sitting outside starwatching, falling asleep . . . the uses are endless.This arrived in a plastic bag and there was no chemical or plastic smell when I opened it. I like that I am paying for product, not packaging. This is shaped nicely to sit on my shoulders and hang over the front. There is no need for a tie to keep it in place and in general I can wear it and go about my business. I do wish it was slightly wider to cover my entire shoulder, but I am a 5' 11" female with broad shoulders so this should cover most typical users. The listing image shows the back staying up against the model's neck. I haven't been able to achieve that, mine flops back and lays flat unless I pull it up tight against my neck and hold it there.I was unable to find any manufacturing flaws . . . the filling stays where it is supposed to. The stitching is nicely done and I couldn't find any mis-sewn seams.I find that this type of plush cover doesn't last very long on microwaveable bags. Generally I get better life out of flannel, but this is fluffy and soft and does feel good to the skin. I wouldn't call this color sage green but more of a pale lime or green sherbet color. Still pretty and fairly close to the listing image but not what we would usually think of as sage green.This has a "green" smell to it which reduces as the contents dry, similar to any other microwave heat bag.Made in China. I’m way into all-natural pain relief and it’s quite rare that I take a pill for whatever ails me. At my age, I’m into comfort and this microwavable neck wrap is the type of product I love. Years ago, I did have a small pad I used to heat in the microwave. This wrap is different in that I can place it around my shoulders and neck. The fabric is soft and cushy on the outside with a mixture of grains on the inside. Apparently, it is a mixture of flaxseeds, clay beads, and a plant-based essential oil, a recipe for aromatherapy. The material is a soft, plush, textured microfiber. This cannot be laundered, but I can only spot clean it as needed.It doesn’t take long to heat it up, only a couple of minutes. As recommended, I heated in in 30-second increments until I was satisfied. I found this wrap to be the perfect size and weight for a neck wrap. It was super comfortable once I wrapped it around my neck and shoulders. As with gel packs, never leave the room while heating this wrap. It’s just so easy to burn it by inadvertently hitting the incorrect time. This wrap can also be used for cold therapy, but now I prefer the hot. Full directions for use are on a paper insert.Once I had the wrap heated up, I put it on my neck. It gives off a nice, hot, moist heat with a great aroma. If you have trouble with fragrances, simply take a pass. My husband has used another one I have, but doesn’t prefer these wraps as much as I do. This wrap can get very, very hot so care should be taken with it. One suggestion I’d make is that when heating the wrap is to place it on a clean, dry plate instead of putting it directly on the carousel. I got the lavender-scented heating pad and so far have found it to be lovely! I don’t know if I would identify lavender as the primary scent though, but definitely has lavender notes and overall is pleasant. The instructions are provided for guidance on how long to heat up in the microwave initially + touch up warm ups to achieve desired warmth. I took it out after initial warm up, ruffled it up, and placed it back in for 2 more warm ups (ruffling up in between each).I like how this particular product is shaped as it kind of drapes over and around your shoulders instead of around the neck, which I normally miss the tops of my shoulders while using other products. The material is very soft and weight of the contents is soothing - overall this stayed warm for an expected amount of time.The only area of opportunity I can think of, is if this product came with a cloth drawstring storage bag of some kind so I could easily store it away and preserve the scent longer when not in use.
