If you use it on your face you do have to be careful to make sure you are moving it in a straight line. If you turn it at all while pressing it on your skin it will damage your skin. This was my first time trying dermarollers, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The set came in a sterile bag, and the instructions are clear.Unfortunately the unit's instructions state that the rollers are not to be reused, and so far I haven't been able to track down replacement heads through multiple searches of this brand name, nor any that might be cross-compatible. It feels so wasteful to only use this kit once. Perhaps I could sanitize the rollers in alcohol again and put them into a UV sterilizer, but lacking specific clarification in that regard, I'm erring on the side of caution and will not be re-using them.When I used these it was unpleasant- it felt like some of the needles were off and it got a bit stabby. I was very gentle, and still one or two needles would prick me. Overall it felt a bit like a cat tongue, but those off needles were very noticeable. Also, the face roller would sometimes get stuck and it dragged on my skin. I'm not discounting operator error, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case since I had to shift and turn the needle barrel to unstick it.Using this gave me what I call a heat flush- sometimes when I get physically stressed my temperature rises, my body breaks out into a clammy sweat, and my face gets very oily all at once. It's uncomfortable, and I don't like causing myself to get that reaction.Afterwards, everywhere that I used the dermarollers looked and felt sunburned for the whole day. These heads are interchangeable and have A LOT of needles, which seems intimidating. You can apply as little or as much pressure as you need. I started off cleaning my skin with alcohol, let it dry, then slowly rolled it over my skin in about 3 or 4 different directions. Let me warn you though - GO SLOW. At one point I figured I was getting the hang of it and started going faster but it started to slip out of my hand and I had a few scratches. I finished up with a cortisone cream to help my skin heal quickly and it seemed to do okay! I didn’t bleed or have any other issues with it.
