This stuff works great. I usually take 2 Tums Ultra for my occasional heartburn and I like that with this one tablet does the trick. The taste is a bit like licorice - not the best tasting, but not awful. It uses natural ingredients and is vegetarian, plus it has calcium in it. These are all huge pluses in my book! I'm going to give this a neutral 3 stars only because there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, it was exactly as advertised and as described on the package but my system is too sensitive to handle it. I have been following a lactose-free, gluten and wheat-free, low FODMAP plan as suggested by my gastro and unfortunately, the natural sugars in this gentle product caused me to *bloat* like crazy. It looks like it's too high in fructose for fructose-sensitive me, which was a risk I was aware of but I've been trying to gradually get off Rx Zantac (a histamine inhibitor) and trying DGL was the next step. Now, this formula did help my heartburn in the morning but I found that by the evening I could have used a third dose for adequate acid control but I had already taken the day's limit so I went back to my daily Zantac. If you do not have a sensitivity specifically to fructose then I would recommend this. It was soothing in my esophagus and tummy and would likely be great for someone not suffering from years long, highly pain reflux OR for someone who is further down that road in healing. I carry it in a tube (I bought this same product in a tube a long time ago...and the tube is refillable)...now, I do not go ANYWHERE without this...if I have ANY issues with a meal, nausea, gas, bloating...eat one or two depending on how I'm feeling, and VOILA...gone in just minutes. Yucky taste but this works ASAP. I like the flavor of TUMS, but that product has mineral oil and other questionable ingredients. Michael's is natural and quick acting. If you like licorice flavor, you might like the taste. It is not high in calcium like TUMS. It is herbal not heavily mineral. Read more
