I have been using this conditioner for about 10-15 years (along with American Crew shampoo and gel), though had never ordered it on Amazon. Before ordering my new bottle recently, I noticed that quite a few of the recent reviews mentioned that it seemed watered down compared to what users had been accustomed to. I thought either they were imagining or had received an imitation. After receiving this new bottle, I can unfortunately confirm it does now appear to be a new formula that is very watered down. I am fairly sure this was a genuine product, but the conditioner is appreciably thinner. The product I had been using for years was nice and thick, the consistency of a typical toothpaste or a Greek yogurt, which required some effort to squeeze from the bottle. This new concoction, however, pours right out very easily, more like the consistency of vegetable oil. Because of its thinner consistency, it now requires 2 or 3 times as much liquid per shower, and it still fails to work as well as the original formula. I won't be buying this brand conditioner again, and if they end up also altering the shampoo and gel, I'll just move to a different brand altogether after many years of loyalty. Read more

When I read the reviews there seemed to be a lot questions of the product being watered down or not authentic. I still had some left in the bottle I purchased 2 years ago so I took a picture of a dab of the old next to the new. This is the exact same product! Looks the same, smells the same, works the same. I got this and the daily shampoo of the same size because it was so cheap. I used to buy this stuff but stopped because of the cost, so I thought I'd give it another try since it was such a good deal. Something changed between then (2010ish) and now. It doesn't seem to smell as nice, and it makes my hair feel heavy. This is either a scam, or they've changed their formula. This product is extremely watery, so much so that it runs out of my hand when I pump some into my hand. I called the customer service number on the back of the bottle and was told that I need to purchase this product from an authorized beauty store, not online from just anyone. It’s incredibly running. I’ve even been wondering if it was watered down by hand by a third party to make more money. The scent doesn’t match the shampoo of the same name and brand so don’t buy it expecting it mimic the scent you just used. Very minty. Read more

American Crew is my go to man's hair conditioner. It smells great and masculine. It makes my hair soft and manageable without feeling greasy. The perfect conditioner in my opinion. The price is fair based on the quality. 5 stars. Read more

I don’t know what happened to this bottle but it’s not as thick as every other bottle I’ve bought. Seems like it was watered down before shipping. I can’t ever pour it into my hand without it spilling out. Oh and the top came open during shipment causing every other thing in the box to get covered in conditioner. Will not be purchasing again. It smells fine and seems to work just fine as a conditioner; I've only had it for a few days. My first use was shocking, as I left the conditioner in my hair for 25-30 seconds (the bottle does say to massage it in and rinse it out, unlike many conditioners that say to leave it in for a period of time) and my head was nearly on fire! This was from the ingredients that "invigorate your scalp", menthol or whatever ingredient is being used. It would just be nice if the burning sensation weren't so strong. I don't think anyone needs their scalp THAT invigorated. If you buy it, just don't leave it in your scalp more than 10-15 seconds. Read more

I use this conditioner on a daily basis and I am very impressed. It has helped my hair become a lot more manageable and hydrated with less breakage. The scent is very pleasing and the menthol type feeling on the scalp is refreshing. Will continue to use and purchase. Read more

Ordered a shampoo and conditioner of the same brand. Shampoo came in ok, but the conditioner came with a sticky tape over the cap (definitely does not pass as a "seal"), the cap not being fully screwed on and about a quarter of the conditioner missing... really? Read more
