All wood and well made. Our pediatrician suggested a chart of some kind as a way to keep track of child’s water consumption, and we use this. Every time our child finishes a glass of water, they get to park a car! It’s a fun way to stay healthy! You could use it for any reward/token system as well. We’ve been doing this for over four months and it’s still considered fun...so it has staying power (at least for our kid). :) Read more

The reviews on this item is interesting, and I would like to bump up the rating on this toy. I would use this toy teaching your child preschool. That means it requires you to sit down with your child the whole time and discover the full spectrum of this toy. You can teach them colors, counting, numbers, and most importantly developing fine motor skills. Don't let your kid sit there and cry bc he can't get the cars out. That's the whole point of the toy and developing motor skills. It has to be perfectly straight and lined up. Much like when you play the game Operation. Well what 2 and 3 year old can do that at first? you will need to put your hand on his fingers and guide him. Then praise him big time. It requires practice, practice, and practice. Then one day SURPRISE he can do it alone, and he will have developed a strong fine motor skill. It just takes a little effort on your part if your willing. If you are willing I strongly recommend this toy. Read more

Not my favorite Melissa and Doug toy. It's a cute idea, but my grandkids are not impressed, only played with it once, then lost interest. The garage is about a foot tall and holds the ten cars. You must lift the bar up in order to remove the cars, one by one. It could be a cute counting game or math games. I think my grandkids are too young to stay interested. I thought they would enjoy practicing their colors, but the cars include variations of colors that confused them. It is better suited for older kids to use as an addition and subtraction activity due to the fact that the cars do not roll. When you remove a car, the level bar moves down showing you the number of cars left in the garage. Cute concept, but not a lot of fun. Read more

This isn’t a toy you set in front of your child and walk away. You will have to put in the time to unlock the benefits of the toy. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is due the the colors not matching on the cars, and the board they slide down. As well as the cars not having any numbers on them. This probably wouldn’t be a giant problem if the order the shades of colors are in weren’t so close in resemblance. There a 4 shades of blues and greens back to back, maybe its done on purpose, but with the shades not matching on the board and the cars I can see how this would be difficult. Other then that is a great toy, and it will help your child build much needed skills. Read more

I’m a big fan of Melissa and Doug toys, but this was a definite miss in our house. For the younger ones, it’s frustrating because the cars won’t come out except at the very bottom or very top and getting them in can be tricky for toddlers. For the intended age, three to five year olds, it’s just a boring toy. The wheels on the cars don’t even move so you can’t even use them like cars in other play settings. Very one dimensional and not very much fun. Returning it. Read more

My 18 month old loves to stack things and is quite good at wooden ring stackers and blocks, thus I picked this to expand his stacking horizons even though it said it was for age 3+. So yes, it's a little advanced conceptually for his age which can result in slight frustration on his part and dependency on my help. However, it's a very sleek and sturdy looking toy that I can tell will last a long time and the colors are true to the picture. The concept of a parking garage is very cool and creative, combining education (numbers, counting, colors) with fine motor skills and imaginative play. I am confident this will be a toy our toddler will continue to grow into. That said, here is why I took a star away: some of the cars have unintentional paint drips down the side, which doesn't take away from the overall facade but does show chinks in the manufacturing quality control. Also, if the "garage" is empty, cars cannot simply be dropped in from the top for stacking or they will turn and/or fall out. However, once 3-4 cars are carefully let down, the rest of the cars can usually be dropped in from the top for neat stacking. Also - the picture is slightly deceiving as the sky blue "Level" piece is not stationary at the top--it falls on top of the other cars being stacked and is removable. This is how it should be as it aids in the counting part of this toy. Read more

I did not notice when I purchased the wheels did not roll but that has not been an issue at all! My 2-year-old LOVES this toy. He is practicing just basic counting and when I opened it up Christmas morning and I went ahead and showed him how to use it for counting and that's how he plays with it now!! I did not have any issues with it standing up or falling over. It works properly. Son has been playing with it endlessly since receiving it. Read more

I wondered how much fun wooden block cars would be but I wanted to give it to my 2&1/2-year-old grandson so he could practice numbers and colors. I am pleased to say that he really enjoys the Stack and Count Parking Garage. His 4-year-old brother like to take his turn as well so I am happy I purchased this Melissa and Doug toy. Read more
