My mistake for not reading reviews about this set. I usually read reviews for EVERYTHING before I purchase something, but did not this ONE time due to me relying on the TRUSTWORTHY name of Melissa & Doug. I will NOT make that MISTAKE again.For starters, the buildings are made of CARDBOARD... & one building ARRIVED damaged, so if they can't withstand SHIPPING in a PADDED box, they will NOT do well with an adventurous CHILD playing with them. I am NOT rating them one star for the damage in transport, because that is NOT a PRODUCT REVIEW issue, but I AM rating them ONE star because they are so FLIMSY.This set would be ACCEPTABLY priced at $10, for what it is.. 5 wooden cars & some CARDBOARD buildings. Any more than $10 is just SCAMMING people, & I am NOT going to be RIPPED off with this OVERPRICED set, riding on the name of Melissa & Doug.Lesson learned, big time.I am packing this set right back up to send it back.I would NOT purchase this set again, especially not for $24.99, which is what I paid for it.A big fat NOPE from me! Update- less than a month later and they are completely destroyed. Not worth it. I even attempted to reinforce them with packaging tape.My son loved this toy. He could drive the cars, stack the buildings, and set them up as a town. It also is great for learning colors and numbers. My huge problem with these are that they are so flimsy. One house is already broken and we have only had it for a week. He is not overly rough with his toys. I am so disappointed with the quality. My almost 2 year old loves this set. He plays with it everyday. It’s been a week and a half. He’s never played this long with one toy before.Pros:Makes color and number recognition fun- he’s been very vocal about naming the colors wherever he sees them!Good sturdy wood vehiclesThey even roll easily on carpetLove that it comes with 6 of them including the buildings Hours of playtime, I just recently made a town w our Amazon boxes (flattened and drew roads on it)Nesting is great. You can nest the buildings and put the cars inside of that to make it easy for transport or storage. Easy toy to bring on vacation.Cons:If your kid puts this in their mouth or plays rough the paint will chip off. It’s been 1.5 weeks and there is some wear already showing on the vehicles.I can see the buildings being stomped on and getting crushed. Sturdy but not indestructible. This toy did not pass the toddler test. We got this for our three year old after he really liked the one we got his little brother from another brand that has animals with it. Since this one involved cars and he loves cars and it has the stacking and sorting element we were sold. Unfortunately right out of the box these seemed less sturdy. They also were slightly warped/pushed in which made it really hard to get the boxes out or in, even for the adults. Three days after Christmas two of these boxes have had front flaps ripped off adjacent to where the opening. Not impressed, especially for a Melissa and Doug toy. My 3 year old plays with these nicely. However, these are not wooden! The cars are, but the stacking “blocks” are not. I should have looked at the reviews and the description in full. It’s says 2+ but I disagree. 2 year olds still chew and put things in their mouth. This is what ended up happening to mine. We got them Monday and they were ruined by Wednesday. I personally think toys made out of cardboard are pointless. They do not last. Why make stacking blocks cardboard?! Stacking is a development stage for 1-3. Parents need these toys to be durable. Do not buy these for your younger children. Just get the emergency vehicle pack and avoid the cardboard stacking blocks. I love Melissa & Doug but these were very disappointing. I bought this set for our grandson's first birthday. To me, Melissa and Doug have always equaled high quality. Not this set. The wooden cars are great and will last forever; however, the nesting squares that represent a garage for each corresponding vehicle (police car goes in the police garage) are made of cardboard with the design of each glued on.In no time, the design on one garage was lifting at the corner and without gluing, would have soon ripped off. another took a glancing step from a toddler foot and bent. The wooden cars with it are great quality, brightly colored, and very durable. The box buildings with it are, as other reviewers mentioned quite flimsy. I received two of the buildings crushed, but my two year old did sit on the Amazon box they were in so that didn't help. I did reinforce mine with clear duct tape and packaging tape. It helped but didn't look great. We put ours on a felt city rug we found for a 3d effect. My 2 year old loves the cars but didn't care much about the buildings honestly. But I wish the buildings were plastic so they'd hold up in case he does begin to take more interest in them. Read more

These are very cute. Bought for my 3 year old as a Christmas present. My 5 and 7 year old love to play with them as well. My only complaint is that they are not very durable and after just a couple of months of play, the houses (which are just cardboard) are breaking and coming apart. I wish they were more durable because my kids have really enjoyed them. Read more
