I am a preschool teacher with 20+ years’ experience and am very use to toys that make sounds, but this one is too noisy. I love Melissa and Doug toys. I have found them to be of exceptional quality. Like their other toys, this one is constructed great with awesome features for a baby BUT in order to hear the animal sounds you have to listen to the music as well. - both of which I think are too loud. I also can't see how a baby can push hard enough to intentionally get the animal sound they want. If you wanted to use this item without the sound then I would say this would be a good choice, otherwise I would choose something else. Excellent quality BUT too noisy. Read more

The biggest negative to this toy are the noises it makes. The animal sounds do not sounds like animals (or rather, what we say animals sound like - quack, moo, etc...). They are actually pretty creepy but thankfully a 6 month old doesn't know to be scared.The music is also weird. Our baby does like the pig song and noise, but all of the others we avoid.If the sounds were updated, the toy overall is great. Lots of interaction, different textures, bright colors. Got this for my son a few months ago, and it's kind of a hot mess - the noises that are played when kiddo presses on the noses of the characters can best be described as slightly demonic. Our little dude is not afraid of anything (so far), but when he started playing with this and heard the sounds, he was wicked freaked out. He's adjusted over time, but if he accidentally bops the nose of an animal, he will crawl away until the sound stops playing, then head back to explore the toy again.The duck's wings and the flower petals around the mirror have what feels like wires in them, which - at least in the toy we received - were not tied/bound carefully enough, and are hella pokey.Maybe we have one from a bad batch? This is a cute, well-made toy, and not expensive. The window for enjoying a toy simply for its tactile qualities is rather short, so I don't like to spend too much on them. The noise that comes out of this thing is so loud and obnoxious I pulled the batteries right after checking out the sounds. Cheap, plastic sound box inside the cube; the aluminum screw to the battery compartment lid stripped immediately (and I used a micro screwdriver that fit perfectly) and I had to pop it off with a flat head to get the batteries in, and again to get them out. Why these manufacturers today think that that babies and little children would like awful sounds is beyond me, but they deserve better than an assault on their ears. It's not hard to get a nice sound out of a tiny speaker. When you press a nose you get this raucous and scratchy "non-music" while the animal bleats/moos/quacks just as loudly and scratchily all the way through it. It's just awful. Ugh.Having said all that, I kept it because it's a nice toy without the sounds, and the baby likes it. There are plenty of things to feel, crunch, crackle, pull, teethe on, a nice mirror and soft squishly handle to swing it with. Just don't buy it expecting cute animal sounds and musical tones. Love this toy! It was r our favorite Christmas present (5 months old) and still is a favorite!! Only thing I wish the battery pack could some how disconnect so the toy could be machine washed. Unfortunately hand wash only. I have a baby with reflux so nothing is easily hand washed. Otherwise awesome toy! Read more

I wish I had tested it before throwing out the box. My daughter does like to chew on the toy, so not a total loss. But it was advertised to make sound and it does not. I was looking at another similar item that was half the cost but settled on this one because of the noise it was advertised to make. Not worth the price. Would not recommend. Read more

This product is just ok. It is true to the picture with bright colors and several items for baby to look at, but the sounds are really bad. They come from a speaker inside the plush cube and are muffled, which I get, but the sounds are borderline scary and hardly recognizable. The sides make "music" but the lamb one, for example, is just random noise with some mechanical sounding bleets overlaid. This toy is also very large; I think my baby gets more out of the blocks (Bright Starts Grab and Stack, e.g.) or something more easily passed from hand to hand. Read more

Tiene todo lo que dice la imagen, sin embardo jamas resulto atractivo a mi bebe adicional que los sonidos de los animales estan horribles, parece que los estan enviado al matadero. I have no idea what they were thinking when they made this toy concidering it's for babies. All the animal noises are made with horrible annoying fast paced music. The music with the sheep sound is the worst...sounds like something from a horror movie like psycho.It would have been great if it was with softer playful music.The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because of the fast shipping and the toy itself visually is great for babies. The ONLY reason i didn't give it a 5-star is because the recipient has not had a chance to play with it, so I don't know if it will be a hit or not. However, the quality of the toy seems to be at the level expected from Melissa & Doug products. There are no batteries on receipt, so at first I thought it didn't work.
