I totally adore M&D toys and we have quite a collection so far, all of which I have been very happy with. When I saw this walker, I was excited for a couple reasons- I love the brand, I love that it's wood instead of plastic, I love the cute, bright design, and I LOVE that it requires interaction to be entertaining (not just push a button for lights and music, you know?) but I was concerned with the design- it looked kind of unstable to me. I read through lots of reviews, and anyone who mentioned the topic said it was sturdy and they had never seen it tip over, etc.My daughter is 11 mos, 18lbs and, well, she totally manhandles this thing. If she tries to pull to standing, it tips. She can tip it easily in any direction. She does love the wooden beads and the crocodiles, so she sits and kneels to push it to and fro, without going anywhere. So I think it's more of a push toy than a walker. It's beautifully made, and I think once she learns to actually walk, she will love it. Also if I am helping her, she can stand with it and make some progress. So I'm not sorry I bought this, but it isn't the aide-toward-independent-walking that I was hoping for, if that makes sense. Just an awesome toy with some fun features :) Read more
Love it. Baby was 8 months when I first bought it. He was just starting to stand and trying to walk. He liked the car but didn't really push it. It will move when they try to use it to stand up. We never let him use it unsupervised. I had to hold the front because it would not hold him. Now that he has more balance, he'll push it. I wouldn't recommend it for babies who are just starting to stand and walk without close supervision. It moves too fast for beginners on wood and tile floor. We used it on carpet and grass first. My little one started using this around 6 months old so we added some extra "wings" for stability. Otherwise it would tip when she pulled herself up. Now she is 11 months and confidently walking without any assistance but still has fun pushing the cart and stacking stuffed animals on the front for a ride. The wings had to be removed too. In the picture she's 9 months old and very short for her age. This cart moves well on all floors in our house. The rubber on the wheels prevents major slipping on hardwood floors and it still moves well on thick and thin carpet. Read more
Melissa and Doug does it again! I ordered this for my cousin’s first birthday, and it was a hit! He’s pulling himself up, but he’s not walking, alone, but with this toy, he zips around !! The alligators that move their mouths, in the front, are so cute! Melissa and Doug are my go to for any child’s toy!! I would highly recommend for any gift, or for your little one.•if you found this review helpful, please let Amazon know by clicking the helpful button down below! Thank you ! Read more
It's cute, fairly sturdy and by no means a complete disappointment. Now I will start with my list of "howevers". The design is good, however I think the company doing the manufacturing and/or assembly is lacking any quality control standards.(A) 1st problem encountered was a slightly out of place drill hole on the handle assembly. Due to the misalignment I was unable to start the bolt into mate located in the handle. I remediated this problem by drilling out the hole 1/16th of an inch larger. Cool, off we go right? Nope, not just yet, this was the warmup.(B) At this point I had the handle securely bolted to the body, unfortunately the rear axle/wheels would not turn easily. I removed the rear axle to find that one end had a significant warp to it. The warp was causing one of the wheels to rub on the body. Another effect of the warp was that it made the factory supplied screw work loose far too easily to be considered safe for someone just learning to walk. So to correct this I replaced both screws that attach the wheel to the axle with larger screws with a coarser threading. See picture for reference.(C) And finally, when the handle was bolted in place to the body, the handle rubbed on the rear axle on both sides. This one confuses me, as it appears to be a design failure by the mfg company. As you can see in the picture, the profile of the axle encroaches into the area where the handle mounts. I resolved this by removing 1/8th inch of wood from each side of the handle where the handle had to pass by or touch the axle.I like the toy, the assembly was a huge disappointment. I'm glad that I put it together now vs waiting till Christmas morning to do it. If you have basic woodworking or engineering skills and have the tools available you can get through this. If you have neither the tools or the desire, you are going to be staring in the eyes of a disappointed toddler. Read more
We have many M&D toys that we love but this one is not safe, for either new or seasoned walkers. It is not properly counterbalanced so if your toddler puts any weight on the push bar whatesoever (which they will), it falls backwards. When she was learning to walk I actually put this away bc it was unstable and just recently brought it back out once she is a very competent walker. But didn’t help. Today she fell and hit the the corner of the push bar with her face, causing a cut to her eye socket :( And looking back at other reviews, she’s not the only one. Do yourself a favor and don’t bring this in your house. Stick with the triangular shaped, plastic frame walkers. Read more
Terrible quality. The left big wheel kept coming off after a few pushes. Read more
Super cute, easy to assemble. With the name is "Chomp and Clack Alligator" I was expecting it to make a "clack" noise while my daughter pushed it but sadly it doesn't make a sound. The Alligators just open and close their mouths (Misleading Name). When I opened the box I was disappointed to see that the back wheel was bent but does work.I've been purchasing Melissa and Doug products for the past 10 years and this is the first time I was slightly disappointed in one of their product. Love the design and smooth pushing. My 11 month old is able to push this on the lawn, the carpet, the sidewalk, and smooth floors. We take it out for walks outside, the mall, wherever! Read more

I really like Melissa & Doug toys, it desinged from kids' perspective. And my little son really like it. Although it is going a little fast on the wood floor. But my son really loves it. He just feeling speed at the beginning of his walking.:)It much better for my son after he can walk a little more steady. Read more
