I wish people would stop reviewing things they don't understand. This product comes exactly as advertised. It's for costume makeup. It isn't a braid that goes in your hair. It isn't a wig. You unravel the braid, cut how much you need, and fluff it out and glue it to your face for theatrical facial hair. I had never even used it, but I put it on one of my students literally an hour before their one act play competition, and the judges were raving about how great the beard looked. Read the descriptions and don't buy what you don't understand. This is crepe hair. This is exactly what it's supposed to be like. For stage use, make sure you use liquid latex and not spirit glue. I decided to be cheeky and go to a family Halloween party as my brother who's in the DEA. He's growing out a bit of a beard, so I set out to get one myself for as cheap as possible. Not gonna spend a lot on a one-time costume. I had two options. 1) Get a realistic looking beard and use something like spirit gum, or 2) Buy one of those fake wearable beards that have a light adhesive or no adhesive at all. Well after looking everywhere, I couldn't find any cheap beards that looked realistic, and the fake ones you can wear looked so bad I couldn't bring myself to order.After seeing this YouTube video titled, "Makeup for the Theatre: Crepe Wool Beard 6/6" I realized I could probably make my own beard with crepe hair or crepe wool. Even if I failed, it would be worth the shot. I got some eyelash adhesive from Walmart, this hair arrived really quickly, and then went to work. What you see in the attached photo is about an hour or work. My first time doing anything like this as well. It went great, and everyone loved the way it looked. They couldn't believe how realistic it felt and looked. If I can do this, you can do it!Highly recommend this product. I will say that you probably only need one unit of this braid. This was my first experience using crepe hair and now I am hooked! I wanted to do a Dumbledore cosplay makeup but wanted it to really be realistic with an actual beard, so I did a little research and learned about crepe hair! I ordered this in white and it turned out amazing for my Dumbledore. It is recommended to wet and straighten out the hair before pulling it apart, but I wanted a lot of texture in my beard so I skipped that step and went straight to pulling it apart from the get go! A little goes a really long way. I did order two packs of crepe hair since it only comes with one strand in each pack but I only ended up using one whole one and maybe a fourth of the other one to create this look! I bought two of these one for my husband and one for my son. We made beards for each of them. I’ve read many reviews that said one 12” braid would make up to 4 beards. I think this would only be true if it’s. Very short beard. MyHusband had a very full beard and we used every piece. My sons was a little shorter and we had about 3” left. All in all they turned out fantastic. (I used Mehrons clear latex glue. It worked fantastic and we were able to used them again the second day by just regluing. Read more

So I’m not use to working with hair that breaks easily and since it’s breaded it has this wave to it but it’s okay to use if you want short hair. I was a werewolf so I needed it to be long and straight so I ended up using my own hair. Read more

I'm not sure what others use this for, but we use it to make facial hair. It worked great for our cosplays. You do have to work with it a bit (i.e use an iron to flatten it out for straighter beard look), but once you get the hang of it, it works great.One package which I believe is about 12inches, has been enough to make 4 full beards so far for us. And we still have enough for maybe one or two more. You don't need to use as much as you think. But or course that depends in what kind of beard you're doing!We will be buying more for sure. So all I can say is it works. But damn if didn't take me almost every last bit of the first one to get it on right. WATCH some youtube before attempting.
