The ability to pump air into the belt bladder makes it unique and able to give the best fit possible. Appears to be solidly built with a Velcro clasp that should last a long time Read more
The ice pack just doesn't hold the cold very long. You can swap it out for a different ice pack and it holds it in place well. Read more
Having a husband experience a terrible accident a few years ago he’s healed from a broken back in 3 places.. but, what I found and I’m sure those in our shoes will agree- recovery never fully takes place. You can put Humpty together again- but, there will always be cracks in the foundation! So, I’m always left looking for reprieve for ongoing soreness that creeps in on tough sore days. Medcosa heat/cold back compression must have done their homework.. bc, this provides functionality with options and best of all it creates counter pressure.. and does this all in one device!!This functions by reusable gel packs that can be heated or cooled depending on ones need at the time. (Our rule of thumb: sore muscle/swelling = cold and nagging pain/angst = heat) Our struggle has always been getting that temperature to penetrate into the body.. its the age old issue!! Ha.. we’ve tried ace wraps to create counter pressure, pillows pressed against, weighted blanket atop the heat/cold source- anything to deliver maximum contact! If you think blood pressure cuff- filling the air bladder will tighten the pressure.. this functions in a similar way. When desire counter pressure is reached, one “click” holds it there.. Boom! Use away and release to adjust, or done- its simple enough. The only issue is getting gel pack to desired hot or cold temp.. it’s the tradeoff when not using electric heat. This has you microwave in 10sec. increments which takes a bit. I find be it cold/hot this will maintain desired temp approx. 25min. before needing to replenish again. So, something to consider- how long do you use in one sitting? My husband like to sit for 30min. and therefore this can do the job. **Bc of smaller lengths this hold a temperature.. this isn’t a good solution for overnight use. **x1 option I suggest is an extra set of gel inserts- this will allow x1 in use while x1 is prepping to be swapped out.As for ability to wear under clothing.. Hmm?! Unless your wearing a drapey smock I don’t see this as feasible in any “invisible/unnoticeable” capacity! Tbh, I I understand but also don’t feel it’s the worst thing if it is worn and noticed.. it just is! A broken leg wears a cast and crutches- we do what we have to. Just know this can be used while on the go!!Sorry to be so lengthy- this will offer pain relief in a user-friendly way. With some limitations one can navigate… Just be sure it meets the criteria you are looking for. Hoping this info can help in your decision… Stay safe! Read more
One of the things I hate about normal cold/hot wraps is they just use velcro and it seems like the right level of pressure is never there.. and they fall out of place easily. This one fixes those problems... so it comes in a plastic bag with some instructions. The wrap does use velcro, and the gel pack also sticks to the inside of the pack using velcro. You can keep it in the freezer or heat it up in the microwave (they recommend 25 seconds to start, then 10 second increments after that if needed). It securely attaches to the wrap. Then once you wrap it around your back, there's a handheld air pump you can use to fill the wrap with air and apply the desired pressure. You can release excess air pressure from the hand pump by pressing on a little release button. It's all very simple. Perhaps the only thing that might trouble some folks is the actual hand pump, I could see someone without grip strength or with arthritis maybe struggling with it as it's not effortless to squeeze, but I personally don't find it to be a concern. This works great and I am pleased with it. Read more
Medcosa Back Compression Ice Pack | Pump it Up for Ice Cold Pain Relief | Compress Yourself for with Our Lower Back Gel PacksAll of my issues with my back are in the thoracic (middle) region of the back. So many heating and cooling devices focus on the lower back or the neck. It can be difficult to find something that's just right for the middle. I have had luck with this. Cold compression done like this is a good idea. Normally if I want cold compression, I have to take a regular ice pack or cooling pad, put it behind my back, and lean on it. While that does work somewhat, finding a comfortable position that does not hurt my back is a challenge. With a device like this that handles the compression aspect, I can sit anywhere/any way that I like, or stand This is one of those things that I didn't even know I was looking for. I'm glad that I found it.The compression ice pack is high quality. It seems well made and did not have any noticeable defects. Though it can be worn under clothes, I haven't tried it that way. I haven't even detached the pump. I just use it around the house. If you have back issues and have tried everything, there's no reason not to try this as well. It is unique in how it helps with back pain. Read more
This Medcosa back compression ice pack works. It is one of the few cold pain relief compresses for the lower back that I have found. The quality of materials seems good. The detachable cold compress appears to be very thick and durable. It also quickly cools down in the freezer. I like that the surface is easy to clean but I think it still would place it a ziplock bag to keep it clean while in the freezer or in storage. It feels comfortable on the back and did relieve pain. However, I did have a couple issues. The first issue is that the hand pump can be kind of tiring to compress especially if your hands are weak. There is also an on/off lever on the back which I did not see initially. You need to place it in the on position for the air to go through. Another issue is that there is a Velcro strap that keeps the compress secure around your waist. When I was using the pump, the Velcro kept detaching. I wish that they had added more Velcro so it would stay on more securely as it was constantly coming undone on my waist. Otherwise, the cold relief felt great and lasted up to a half hour. Read more
Absolutely brilliant! A Godsend, my pain is what I can only describe as what I imagine a dagger would feel like in the centre of my back between the shoulders, it’s a little difficult but I made this work for me and such a relief, I’d recommend it 100%, still waiting for my free ice pack though! The media could not be loaded. Now if like me, you suffer from lower back trouble with sciatica and disc issues and find yourself at your wits end with the pain and decreased mobility, then you have probably tried a multitude of options to gain a little relief. Now this Medcosa back compression support belt appeared to be just what I was looking for, and I was eager to try it. First of all, it’s a beautifully made piece of kit that oozes quality and instantly raised my expectations..The provided instruction booklet is very straightforward and easy to follow so I was ready to give it a try. The belt sizing is generous and adjustable for all waist sizes and very comfortable around my ample midsection. Once I started to inflate I could feel the belt tighten exactly where I wanted around my lower back and I was pretty taken aback by how strong the compression was when inflated as it hugged the arch of my lower back and gave huge support. The relief was pretty much immediate and it felt like a weight had been lifted! At this point I hadn’t tried the hot and cold pack so removed the belt and deflated before detaching the pack and placing in the microwave for 60 seconds. The instructions advised to have a barrier such as a tea towel between the skin and the pack but I decided to just fit the belt over a T-shirt. With the heat and the compression, the relief felt targeted and gave significant improvement to to the movement in my spine and hips. Now as you know there’s no magic bullet for serious back issues and even the smallest improvements feel like a victory but this has made a real difference both physically and mentally as it has improved my posture and ability to retain it. It has offered significant easing of the pain and increased my mobility which hand in hand helps my state of mind. This has definitely become a part of my daily routine and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future as it is a huge help.Good luckSB Read more
Very well constructed with good materials. It's so easy to remove the inner gel pack to either freeze, chill or heat up depending upon your preferred method of pain relief. I need heat mostly for ease pain unless the area is swollen. Because I don't have a microwave I used a bowl with boiled water in it and placed the gel pad in for 10 minutes and lifted out then dried before putting in the wrap. It got hot enough to help with the lower back pain I have every day. The wrap stays put if you move around, especially if you've used the compression pump too. A microwave would give better heat results though.I also used this on my arthritic knee which had swollen a little so I tested it via chilling in the fridge for an hour then popped into the wrap and placed around my knee. I couldn't walk around as this is too large to wear that way but if you use on your knees and put your legs up it's fab.If you suffer with back, shoulder, knee, shin pain this is probably the most versatile item that you could buy. It would be good for period pains or to ease IBS if heated. Overall it's an excellent choice for the widest range of body part use. I love it. Read more
When you’ve had a back injury you’re constantly looking for ways to relieve the soreness and pain, and whilst medication can help with the sensation that method is not something that one should become overly reliant upon. This compression belt/wrap is one possible means of alleviation and it goes about it by offering you with quite a wide band of material that you can pump up with a hand-operated pump to help provide an even distribution of pressure which does really help (in my case). The fact that you can either chill or heat the gel pack to provide different forms of temperature soothing is great as that gives you options depending on your own personal pain-management style. Whilst I prefer the heating method it is often beneficial to rotate hot and cold to help the muscles. There isn’t much more to this item than that really, but I was pleasantly surprised with how it felt from a quality-perspective and that there were no faults or rough stitches anywhere.
