I’m a 55 year old woman with combination skin. I’ve tried dozens of foundations over the years and this is my favorite. In fact, I’ve stuck with this one for several years now. I used to buy it at Walmart, but Amazon prices are a little better, and much more convenient when it’s delivered right to my door. The container may seem a little small – it’s .64 ounces – but I use it daily and it lasts me a few months.I tap the foundation with my fingers to apply and then smooth it across my face. You’ll use way too much makeup if you try scooping with your fingers – just gently tap a couple times and then smooth on. It glides on nicely and covers acne scars and other imperfections quite well. It also helps to fill in large pores to give my complexion a much smoother appearance. I tap a little extra on brown spots and larger acne scars and they’re barely noticeable. I’ve tested using a sponge and a brush, but I get the best results with just my fingertips. I always follow up with Dermablend setting powder – it’s a great complement to the foundation.I’ve found that the foundation stays put throughout the day, even after sweating during a workout. I do occasionally matte it during the day with a little more Dermablend powder to keep away the shine, but I don’t generally need to reapply any foundation (although I may touch it up if I’m going out at night).It washes off nicely with just a little Cetaphil cleanser and warm water. I was looking for a natural look and this is perfect for me. It gives me the smooth matte look,while still showing my freckles. It’s a keeper. I got natural beige, it looks a tad on the darker side when you first open it but once applied it blends in great. The product looks a little chunky when you open it but it spreads out nicely. I love th I foundation! Its silky and mousse texture is amazing! It feels so smooth and soft on your skin and is great for both young and aging skin. I love the finish I get when using the compct that goes with it. It has a mineral powder kind of look, yet it doesn't look too minerally fake or like a fake bake tan that is just too much, but it does give excellent coverage that you can blend to minimum coverage and if you dont have oily skin, you could even wer it with no setting powder for a completely natural look ( I have to have powder on top but i dont go for the natural look and have too oily skin). I also have sensitive, acne prone skin that is getting older(I am 38), and it dosent irritate or break me out at all which is important and hard to find in make up you get at the drug store. I had a prior container of “dream smooth mousse“ in natural beige - shade 240 - #1 in the picture. Ordered this “dream matte mousse” in natural beige - now shade 2.5 - #2 in the picture. As you can see there is a substantial color difference and on me it’s like instant jaundice to wear this new one. I’ve tried blending them and blending it with the other things I have. I like the feel of it and I like the Light coverage, but the color is just soooo off with the exact same name in an almost identical product. The dream mousse is a bit fluffier so it should actually be less coverage in my mind So I thought the color would not appear as dark and yellow on. I have missed my return time because I didn’t start using it right away and because I had hopes of blending it with the other one. That is certainly not the supplier’s fault from Amazon but what is Maybelline doing? I really liked this product but I cannot seem to find the right shade. The colors tend to be redish or a bit browner than I would expect when applied. One was too dark and I use that one as an eye shadow. That works out perfectly it is very long lasting. The product has a bit of a thick granular texture before it is applied, but it goes on easily. Advice - check carefully in the mirror when done applying if you didn't rub it all in you will have little sand like granules that are not blended in. It does not feel greasy and it is long lasting. If I could find the perfect shade I'd be very happy. I have olive skin with a bit of uneven coloring when I don't use very much makeup, just enough base to even out my skin tone and not look washed out. This product would be perfect if only I could hit upon the appropriate color. Read more

Truly great stuff - the only thing I don't care for is that if you take a bit too much on your fingertips when applying, little bitty 'chunks' can fall off on your shirt. That being said, it's easier to deal with than drips of liquid foundation. Maybe I should just be more careful...Creamy natural is the perfect color for me. My post-freckles-too-much-sun-for-a-white-girl skin is hard to match - most foundations are too orangey or yellow. Maybelline classifies its Matte Mousse as intended for normal-to-oily skin, but it works fine on my dry skin, especially if I use a primer. Read more

This is for me the best make ever in foundation creams (and I have tried many over the years). It is a light mousse with great colour - a little lighter for the winter months all the way through to sunkissed for summer. It is not oily but spreads beautifully, is economical and delivers a fine surface to the skin that looks completely natural. A friend of my daughter said to me last week "Your skin is just beautiful" which, at 74 years, I take not just as a lovely compliment but with great thanks to the regular items in my cosmetic bag.
