For reference, I have 1B hair, thick, pretty straight and never dyed it in my life. My scalp gets oily and therefore I lack volume. My scalp is also prone to irritation so it’s hard to find a shampoo that cleans without stripping and weighing it down. Alas, this is a nice shampoo to use and is lightweight. I was hesitant to buy this conditioner since Aloe was an ingredient. I have extremely protein sensitive hair and aloe typically doesn't react well with my low porosity strands. I didn't notice how well it worked until after observing how moisturized my curls felt over the course of three days! I used it again before straightening my hair and my hair felt incredible! In my opinion, this conditioner is better than the Shea Moisture's Low Porosity line that was discontinued. I haven't tried Maui's shampoo from this line yet but I hope it works great also. I love the fragrance of this, it smells so good. The only bummer was that it arrived with a chunk of the cap broken. It was sealed within its own bag, and not too much product leaked out but still, I hope they're more careful next time with packaging. Read more

I used to love this brand until I found out that there was DMDM hydantoin in some (if not all) of their products. the chemical DMDM hydantoin is a formaldehyde donor / released preservative, an allergen/irritant, (and possibly carcinogenic — as formaldehyde is potentially carcinogenic and also an irritant), which can cause hair damage/loss and/or scalp/skin problems, etc. I currently don’t use this brand’s products anymore as I avoid using products with the chemical DMDM hydantoin. — Amy Rose, Main Character (@VeganAmyRose).
