I have very medium-dark brown hair so I wasn't sure this would show up very well, but I was too lazy to bleach it/upkeep the roots so I decided what the heck, it's pretty cheap and easy. It showed up WAY more than I expected! I was pretty pleased with the results. It does bleed a lot, I've washed it three times and my hands are still a greenish-blue hue afterwards, but small price to pay, I figure. Just make sure you have that Vaseline ready before you dye it or you'll be blueish green da ba dee da ba die for awhile. I have rather short hair, so I had about half a container left, but I could see you maybe needing to buy two bottles if you have very long hair. I also like that it was fragrance-free (my boyfriend gets headaches when I dye my hair normally) and I left it on about 8 hours and my hair was still healthy afterwards. It seemed to be even brighter after the second wash, at first it looked a little more black but still very green. I say go for it! It's inexpensive and vegan so you can't mess up much! :) Read more

This color came out a beautiful dark teal/green. I have naturally dark hair, and had previously used box black (yikes!) so my hairdresser did what she could with 40vol bleach to lighten before hand. My hair did not lift very much, but we added the teal and especially with manic panic's amplified, it lights up when the sun hits it! Be aware, as with any dye with a blue undertone or blue deposits - expect EVERYTHING and anything to get dyed blue. Running your hands through your hair? Blue fingers. Wearing your hair down? Blue neck. I've found this is the norm for any blue dye, so just a heads up on what to expect! Highly recommend MP amplified. If you take care to wash with a color depositing conditioner like Overtone, or a high quality color last shampoo conditioner and only in cool water, the color lasts me almost two months before I have to redo! Be prepared to bleach your bath tub every time you shower for at least a week, ha. My neck, ears, and finger tips also seem to be permanently teal. But I must say, this is absolutely without a doubt the most rewarding hair dye I've ever used! I've never had such a vibrant, thorough color job. This is what I did: I used a tinting brush to evenly distribute. I mixed in a tiny bit of conditioner so that it spread easier. I combed it through until I didn't see a single hint of blonde hiding anywhere. I blow dried it for about 2 minutes. Then, I used a heat cap / shower cap and let the dye sit for 3 hours. (Yes, 3 hours, its vegan dye and it basically deep conditions your hair.) when I took the cap off, I did another quick two minute blow dry. I rinsed for about 20-30 min in COLD water. No shampoo no conditioner. I used a shower cap for a couple days in the shower, so about 4 days after dying I rinsed with cold water again and used a deep conditioner. More shower cap useage, and today will be one week after dying. So today I will use natural gentle baby shampoo (shea moisture) with a small amount of the dye mixed in. I intend to keep this color for a while and this is the way to do that. You shouldn't be washing your hair more than once or twice a week anyway because it strips the oils. I've washed my hair once a week for 15 years and I have the most luxurious, healthy, non-greasy hair of anyone I know. The last photo is from today, aka a week since I last shampooed and as you can tell my hair isn't greasy or dirty. Read more

I originally used the violet night regular formula and it took 6 jars over 4 separate applications and around 16 hours total in my hair to get a very dull and uneven purple that was blue at the roots and since I hated it, I let it fade and ordered this. I only had to use one bottle of this and left it in for an hour and got this perfectly vibrant purple. I'll be interesting to see how it fades, but for now, I love it.Update: it's been about two weeks since I dyed my hair and the color was gorgeous at first, but it's already fading in some spots. The worst part is that the color is literally rubbing off even when dry. I can run my fingers through my hair and they come out purple, I started turning my pillow and couch purple and I straightened my hair yesterday and the plates ended up having a ton of purple gunk on it when I was done. I wash my hair every other day using a color safe shampoo only at the roots and a color safe conditioner only on the ends. My hair wasn't oily at all when I straightened it, so that shouldn't happen. I'm now trying to strip the dye with a strong shampoo and dying over it because I'm tired of it. I won't be buying this color again. Read more

Bought this to dye my daughters hair. She has reactions to store bought box dye. Her scalp bleeds and scabs after. I tried Vampire red to get her the results she wanted. No pain at all! Wow, her hair is silky and shiny. The color is so vibrant! I'm so impressed. Have baby wipes on hand to wipe around the face, neck, and ears. Sensitive baby wipes work the best! Get a disposable cap, disposable gloves, and a brush to brush the color through after you apply. Rinse with cool water. Read more

LOVE THIS ! I bleach my hair first and then apply any manic panic to my hair and that is exactly the color I get. I have bought other semi permanent dyes and they always turned my hair a completely different color. Whatever color is in the jar that is the color my hair will be 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Read more

I used to use the hot pink manic panic on my hair when I was younger so I thought I knew what I was getting myself into. I had a cap ready to sleep in and covered my pillowcase with a blue towel ready for the first few nights after dying. It’s been 3 washes now and I’m still shedding ridiculous amounts of blue, even when my hair is bone dry! I have ended up having my hair in a bun the whole time because otherwise it rubs colour onto my neck and makes me look like I have gangrene. Also just from playing with my hair throughout the days my fingernails are dyed totally blue. I expected some colour transference but this is beyond ridiculous. The colour on my actual hair has already faded quite substantially but I’m still leaving a trail of blue wherever I go. Never again! Read more

I'm always chopping and changing my hair colour, and this was the first time I used manic panic and I chose the AMPLIFIED AFTER MIDNIGHT BLUE DYE. The advice is always to pre lighten the hair, with bleach if needed.I decided against this has I had already pre lightened my hair (but not bleach) when I dyed it pink 4 month's ago. And couldn't be bothered to wait for the pink to totally fade and start right from the beginning. Blah, blah.Being an insomniac (and impatient) was an advantage for when trawling through the Internet and YouTube looking for advice on dying straight over the pink. The majority outcome was not to as it would be a yucky colour . But I found 1 video that did take that risk and it turned out beautifully. So I decided to take the plunge.I put on cheap plastic gloves (my advice is to use washing up gloves (I wish I had. And make sure that they are ones you won't want to use again lol)), which did tear hence my lovely blue hands. And smothered protelium jelly around my hairline and top of my ears. This is a messy process and preparation is everything.I emptied the contents into a bowel and added a squirt of WHITE coloured hair contiditioner just to lighten it a tad. And applied it starting at my roots. Once fully covered I got clingfilm piled my hair on top of my head and wrapped it in the clingfilm and left it for 3 hours (manic panic advice is 30 mins, but I've found for myself, the longer the better). As you can see (my pic's aren't the best as I'm not the most photogenic), the only way I can describe the outcome is WOW!!! WOW!!! It looks so much better in 'real life'.The blue obviously has attached itself to the pink and the rest of my virgin hair a blackish colour, which thankfully covered my natural sparkly bits. When I wash it next, I will use cool, even cold water, if I'm feeling brave and colour saving shampoo/conditioner. And in between washes dry shampoo (which is my new best friend and should be yours too), as every wash reduces the colour and vibrancy. So I wash my hair once or twice a week.I've had so many compliments the most I've had with any colour.I gave 3* stars for long lasting as I've only been blue a week, so time will tell.I would recommend this colour and brand, and I can't wait for when I try another colour in a few months x Read more

I've tried almost every blue dye created and I keep coming back to this one. It's not the cheapest but for me its the perfect shade of blue and lasts a good while. The consistency is very thick however which makes its harder to squeeze out the bottle, I wish they made this formula in a jar container too.. anyway for best results put on dry hair and shrink wrap your head..leave in as long as possible..then rinse and enjoy. Like all colours try to wash your hair as little as possible..dry shampoo is your friend. Read more

I had high hopes for this, so many people have raved about MP. I was disappointed though. I applied this purple dye to blonde hair and left it for 90 minutes, only for it to come out as a strong shade of blue. Under some fluorescent lighting it looked a light purple but nowhere near the advertised shade in any lighting. Additionally, it has faded in the sun so fast after just a week that I now have blonde patches again.I will not be purchasing this again, going to wait for it to fade and then try a different brand - drugstore dyes have worked better for me. I hoped with the higher price (at least *twice* what I can buy in Boots) it would last longer but clearly not. Read more

I used most of a bottle of candy cotton pink with a tiny bit of blue. Left on towel dried hair for over an hour. Only had to use the tiniest bit of blue, the blue is VERY strong. The pink very weak. Biggest complaint is that the majority of was used and it has washed out with one shampoo. It’s too expensive to justify this and I didn’t find any more potent than normal/other direct dyes. Certainly am not paying this amount of money for one use. I am a hairdresser. My hair is bleached but not damaged in condition. Would not buy this again. Read more
