Im still a diehard fan of this stuff! I've used it for over a year now! Beware though, this is PIGMENTED. I dilute it in conditioner to lighten it some. And it fades very flatteringly 👌But it will absolutely stain anything it touches, pretty much even the air! One time my dog even walked in the room when I was coloring my hair and I SWEAR to bob, somehow got pink all over his back! Let me just start off by saying that I am a teen girl and this is my dad's account that I use from time to time. Okay, let's get on with the review!I have jet black Asian hair so I didn't know if this dye would show up on my hair color. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try because the worst thing that could happen is that the color doesn't show up. I had never dyed my hair before so I was a total noob at dying my hair.So I sort of followed the directions on the Manic Panic website (checkout this before you dye your hair with Manic Panic[...]). I started off with shampooing my hair the day before and no conditioner. The next day, I woke up early and put newspapers on the bathroom floor to protect it from staining. I also used saran wrap on the bathroom sink to protect it from the dye. Literally, cover every surface that you think the dye will come in contact with (for me, some even got on the walls lol). Next, I sectioned my hair into four sections (so top right, top left, bottom right, bottom left) and I clipped them into place with those little black claw clips. This actually helped me later on. I put Vaseline around my hairline, ears, back and sides of my neck (this actually didn't really help; my skin still stained from the dye). Then, I put on plastic gloves and just used my fingers to distribute the dye. So after I finished one section, I would clip it back in place and then move on to the next section. When I was finished with the dye, I wrapped plastic wrap around the hairline of my hair and covered the rest with a plastic shower cap. I left the dye in for around 7 hours.Later, I rinsed the dye out with the coldest water I could stand and then gently dried my hair (please use an old towel when doing this because I totally stained my towel completely pink). I waited until my hair was completely dry (this is very important!! Otherwise it will stain everything) and then went to sleep. When I woke up, my pillow was completely pink so I suggest covering your pillow the first 2-3 days after you dye your hair.So did the color show up? Yes, it did (sort of). In indoor lighting, it appears a medium brown which is very weird but it looks black in pictures. However, in direct sunlight, you can definitely see the color although it's like a dark fuchsia/pink/ red-ish color. I'm actually really happy with it because of it's ability to change color in different lighting. The ends of my hair are actually a tad bit lighter than the roots so the color was more vibrant there. The only downside is that it fades really fast. I wash my hair once a week and when I used shampoo a week after I colored my hair, it turned the shampoo a light pink so I knew the color was coming off :(. So the more you wash your hair, the faster the color will fade.Oh, also, I have 2-3 inches past shoulder length hair and I only used half of the hair dye. Read more
My daughter wanted her hair dyed pink but I was not about to let her get permanent hair dye. This was perfect. It actually stayed in for the entire summer and wasn't even completely washed out when school started again. It did get considerably lighter. I'd definitely recommend this hair dye if you're looking for something that only lasts a few months. Also, she has brown hair and the pink showed up just fine in her hair. Read more
I adore Manic Panic products. I've used them on bleached hair and my natural hair (which is a light auburn). They keep my hair healthy, shiny, and happy. I won't use any other dye.Colors I've used:---Cotton Candy Pink---Hot Hot Pink---Rock N Roll Red---As well as their white lightning 30 developer.All are great - I used the pinks over bleached hair, and red over my natural. Kick ass colors - bright and gorgeous. However, red-tones and Manic Panic in general can wash out.Here's a few tips *I* use to improve my color-stay:IF you aren't applying dye to recently bleached hair, then you'll want to help your hair soak up the Manic Panic. Wash your hair with DISH SOAP. Do not condition. If applying to recently bleached hair, it's your call, but your hair should be "dry" enough to take it without washing with dish soap.Leave the dye (not bleach) in your hair AT LEAST 30 minutes, but because of the conditioning nature of this dye, you can leave it for hours - I regularly put the dye in, throw a shower cap on, and go watch a movie or binge watch TV shows for a while.When washing it out, use cold water and rinse with a mixture of water and white vinegar.Wait 24 hours before rinsing your hair again.Wash your hair with a water/white vinegar mix, condition with whatever conditioner you prefer. Some people mix some drops of the dye into their conditioner to keep it actively tinting.I dye my hair every 3 weeks or so, this same process every time. Read more
Worked perfectly for my daughters hair. She loves colored hair (she’s 4) but has kind of light brown hair, so I was a little hesitant to get just plain hair dye. This worked perfect! And it washed out in about 3 weeks, which to her was a plus because then she got to switch to purple. And it didn’t look bad while it was fading, it just started looking like a baby pink color. I would definitely recommend for kids wanting to have colored hair. I added pictures of when it was first done and after it started to wash out (the picture with the space buns). Read more
Super vibrant colour! Love it! Only thing I would say is the product is dryer than other dyes I have used, I used a tiny bit of water just to loosen it up so it was easier to spread down my hair. But aside from that it is an amazing product. Read more
Just arrived today and I have already used this on my hair and my little sisters hair. I'm surprised as to how well it worked on my unbleached hair because its very vibrant and I only kept it on for 30 minutes! If I did it for longer it might be even brighter. I've included a photo of a test strand and my natural hair and you can see how it looks.I will update this eventually for how long it lasts, but at the moment my experience with the product has been great. I found it very easy to use just with my fingers (with gloves). Thouhh I think the tub is a bit expensive since it's quite small, but again I'll see in the future how long it lasts and what the true value of it is.Overall I'm happy with my purchase and I think I would buy again. As having a faded red colour hair as a base, the final colour coming out from this product was more than satisfying. So far I have been using ''Rock'n'Roll'' and ''Hot Hot Pink''. Both turned out with brilliant results, especially for covering darker (dyed) hair tones like mine, and not a bleached hair. Hair comes out shiny and silky as well. Washes off after 3-5 hair washes. So I bought this for the UV effect, I was on stage with a drag queen this week and they had black lights there my hair didn't show anything other than without the lights. Not as bright as Directions so you use more making it expensive. I bleached my hair to white which took 30 minutes then 30 minutes for this, so want a long process. 3 stars is because it doesn't glow and it's thicker and dryer than directions and not as good also get more wash out with this to. Luckily it's a nice colour or I'd be scoring it 1 star. Read more
LOVE this!! My daughter has tried a few different semi-permanent, non-harmful dyes without wanting to lighten or bleach and we were recommended this one.Tried the tips first and she loved it so we bought more to fill the rest of her hair. Used three tubs in total. Left it for 1 hour 15-20mins with a plain plastic carrier bag wrapped around it.Took forever to rinse but totally worth it. Read more
