Applying Manic Panic hair color to pre-lightened hair is the best way to assure that you will achieve the vibrant results that you see on our color swatches. Lightening with our Flash Lightning Kits to a pale blonde (level 9-10) will give the most intense results. FAQ: How Can I Lighten My Hair Before Applying Manic Panic Dye? We offer 3 bleach kits that will lighten your hair: BLUE LIGHTNING 30 VOL, FLASH LIGHTNING 30 VOL, AND FLASH LIGHTNING AMPLIFIED 40 VOL. BLUE LIGHTNING helps remove any unwanted brassiness in the hair, FLASH LIGHTNING AMPLIFIED 40 Vol is our super strength bleach kit, more powerful than the FLASH LIGHTNING 30 vol. Blend our Mixer/Pastel-izer with any color to achieve a lighter, pastel tint that is totally on-trend. Combine any formula with the Mixer/Pastel-izer to create soft, on-trend pastel hues. This product works best when you use a whole jar of Pastel-izer with just a few drops of your desired color. FAQ: What is the difference between semi-permanent & permanent hair color? A semi-permanent direct dye hair color does not contain any harmful chemicals and relies on natural vegan dyes that mostly sit on top of the hair. Manic Panic partially penetrates hair shaft with smaller color molecules than the permanent hair color. Permanent hair colors contain ammonia and require peroxide to penetrate and bond with the hair shaft. Our product is gentle and does not require a developer. GUILT-FREE GLAMOUR! How to Dye Your Hair: 1. Wash hair with a deep cleansing/clarifying shampoo. Do not condition. 2. Dry hair with a blow dryer to make sure the hair is extremely porous. 3. Put on gloves and apply Manic Panic Hair Color using a tint brush making sure hair is thoroughly saturated. 4. Comb through the hair color to make sure it is evenly applied. The cream may become slightly frothy. 5. Cover hair with a plastic cap and leave on for 30-45 minutes. For more intensity, add heat. 6. Rinse with cool water away from your face and body until water runs clear. Do not shampoo. 7. Style as desired. To prevent color transfer or bleeding, always make sure your hair is completely dry. Pro Tip: Use a hair dryer to evenly apply heat for 5-10 minutes of your processing time. This will help to open up the cuticle and allow the Manic Panic hair color to better penetrate the hair strand. Make sure to allow the hair to cool completely before rinsing out color. I've been using cotton candy pink for months mixed with a little bit of virgin pink by arctic fox to get a brighter pink and it fades very nicely, and fades often. I dye my hair about every two weeks and use overtone pastel pink daily conditioner, I wash my hair about 2 or 3 times a week. I personally enjoy the upkeep because dying hair is relaxing for me but if you're really busy or find it tedious I'd reccomend another brand. I have pretty short hair and only need about a third of the jar for each dye job. Read more
Almost no color at all, I was very disappointed. The cream seemed weird too me, so I wasnt sure how well it was going to work. I've used manic panic before and it worked really well but not this time. The cream didnt have a lot of pigment in it, it was really opaque and I couldn't even see much color when the cream was on her hair. I'm very unhappy with this experience and it makes me nervous trying this company again. She wanted an in your face pink and instead we got this. Read more
Happy with the color! I diluted with conditioner until it was the color pink I wanted (pastel). My hair was level 10. If you don't have level 10 hair, don't expect miracles from this. It's not that it doesn't work, you just don't have the proper hair level for this color to take. If you have more yellow blonde then I suggest using something darker like the hot hot pink from manic panic (or something similar). If you are white blonde with minimal yellow tones, this will work if you follow the directions. Good luck! Read more
I just put this in today, and I LOVE it! I wanted something g fun because I’m currently furloughed from my employer that requires “natural” tones for hair color. I posted pix to FB & EVERYONE loves the color. I left it on for an hour under a shower cap and then rinsed with cool water into it was clear. Read more
if you're looking for peach hair, mix a little of this with creamscicle and you will have a lovely peach shade :)as for the product itself, i am amazed. my hair has been a bright auburn since october 2018, and i was determined to get it to work. i was constnantly having to redye. not to mention, any bit of water that so much as touched my hair would turn red and stain EVERYTHING, and all it took was a tiny bit of sweat to ruin an entire shirt. i tried a good 15 different brands, tons of different techniques, and nothing worked. i figured it was my hair and i was just going to have to deal with it if i wanted to dye my hair.in january, i got the idea to dye my hair peachy pink. just for the heck of it. did not plan on keeping it at all. i bought this combination after seeing it online somewhere and decided to try it. when i washed it out, the water ran clear immediately. no tinted pink water like i had with every red dye i had tried. my hair felt SO SOFT. absolutely zero damage. no running whatsoever. people who normally do not like that i dye my hair think this looks great on me. so i think i'm gonna keep it.honestly, i had heard some things over the years about manic panic that made me very wary, but this has got to be the best hair dye i have ever tried. if i ever go back to red, i might as well go with their vampire red or something, bc i am a full-fledged manic panic fan now. I noticed that when I was trying to find the "right" color purple, pics appeared different depending on your screen, and it was pretty much a mystery what they'd really look like. I've tried Ultra Violet, Electric Amethyst, and Plum Passion. All three are amazing colors, especially if you blend.I bleached my hair to start.Ultra Violet is very very blue. Depending on the lighting, it looks either blue or purple.Mixing this with Electric Amethyst had a really cool look. It reminded me of purple ice.Electric Amethyst is a bluer purple. It's darker at first kind of like an indigo, but fades to a very pretty blue-lavender. As it fades more, it gets a gray, icy look to it.Electric Amethyst and Plum Passion gave a lot of dimension and I like the contrast it gave.Plum Passion is so far my favorite. It wasn't my first choice, but I decided to try it and I'm really glad I did! It's definitely purpley and a lot less blue. Some lighting it looks very purple, other lighting it looks plum. That's kind of what I was going for. If I had wanted blue, I'd have just bought blue. Its fade seems to keep the purple tone. I haven't noticed a fade to red or anything. Since it does have more red in it than the others, it's harder to keep the brassiness at bay, but using a purple conditioner really helps.I have to retouch about every week and a half to two weeks. When I have to wash it, I condition it before wetting it and it seems to slow the fade ever so slightly. Definitely is a plus that it's a vegan formula so I don't have to worry about further damaging my hair with so many applications! Read more
Okay. Like everyone else and their mom, over the past 4 months I've picked up a few hobbies, or Quaran-talents as I call them. This was the summer of hair experiments, haha. I am now gray and obsessed with Dark Star, but before this, I had used Atomic Turquoise and Voodoo Blue. Manic Panic is truly THE best! I leave it on my dry hair with a shower cap for 2 hrs. For people saying it does not work, I'm not sure why. I naturally have dark brown hair. My before pics were super grown out highlights that were done last November. I had to bleach my hair ends (ombre like) only 1 time to get this amazingly rich color! Their blue colors are powerful!! Manic Panic is a really fun and inexpensive way to mix it up. To strip the blue, as I headed back to blonde, then gray, I used only vitamin C powder mixed with anti-dandruff shampoo until the end when I had to bleach 2 times to get it level 9 for Dark Star (I have awesome pics on that color too!)I hope this review and pictures are helpful in making a decision regarding purchasing this product. If it was, please let me know below :) Read more
I've used Lime Crime's Unicorn Hair and Arctic Fox dyes for the past 1+ years to dye my medium-brown hair pink after a round of bleach. I have Manic Panic's Cotton Candy Pink a try, and I wish I'd saved myself the time and effort. The dye did essentially nothing, even on hair bleached medium/light blonde. I'm going to throw away the leftover dye and never purchase this again. Read more
I've wanted to try manic panic for a few years as there's a lot good press and impressive pics online of the colours, but I won't buy this brand again, for what you get its over priced with dicey results.I'm not new to fashion colours and dying my own hair, I have tried many different shades and brands over the years and I'm unimpressed by this brand.Just a note to say the bottom 1/3 if my hair already had a faded base colour of pink one side and purple the other, which is why the colours look better at the bottom of my hair. It's a gel consistency similar to rebellious colour, but triple+ the price for not as good results.Colours are lighter than advertised (cotton candy and atomic turquoise) and as soon as I felt the consistency and put it on I could tell it was not going to stick to my freshly bleached roots. luckily i had some Live pink which I have used to hide some of the most visible patches where it wouldn't take, but I will definitely have to re do both sides soon. There's literally no depth to the colours and no shine, which considering this dye is much more expensive than others I was expecting a better result. On the plus side its easy to apply and the colours are pretty evwn if they aren't as advertised, it doesn't have a bad smell to it, smells like emollient cream when applying, also it doesn't make a mess as it's thick and I have minimal skin staining, even with the blue shade.I'll stick to bleach lnd, crazy cour and colour freedom.from now on. Bought atomic turquoise, pictures are my hair after 2 washes.Pretty straight forward, nothing complicated, I didn't even manage to bleach my hair properly, went a bit ginger, and the colour still came through perfectly fine, it's lighter and more green tinted in real life which i like, it looks a lot more blue in pictures. It is worth noting I started from pretty dark brown hair but my hair is also quite thin and straightEdit: took the third pic in sunlight, shows the colour better Read more
Just to start off, I had to chop my hair sooooo short but luckily I had hair extensions. So please when looking at the result, look at my bangs, that’s the true colour it came out..The colour sunset orange saved my hair so bad you have no idea.So I bleached my hair and it went wrong SO SO WRONG. My hair was super stretchy and when it was dry it was a frizz ball.So because I bleached my hair, it was an awful yellow. I used hair treatments until my hair was in a better condition. I then tried red hair dyes and nothing would hold. Literally nothing..My last resort is was sunset orange. It’s the first time I’ve ever used manic panic and because others failed I wasn’t expecting much with this. It’s a cream, I didn’t use a developer like some people have, I used it straight from the pot. It felt so moisturising straight away. It said minimum time for as 30 minutes so I left it on for about an hour as there’s nothing harsh. My hair felt really great after I rinsed it, I didn’t shampoo it, I left it 72 hours before washing it so it gave the hair to properly close itself. My hair actually held the colour! It came out a beautiful ginger colour. I didn’t want it bright orange to begin with because funnily enough I wanted it ginger.I’ve never had a dye so forgiving in my hair. I’m not bothered what colour it was, it held the colour and got rid of the gross yellow.I highly recommend it if your hair is on its last legs. Also along side it use a good hair mask with protein, a strengthening shampoo and conditioner. I paid around £15 each for mine. I don’t know If we can say what the brand of the shampoo and conditioner so I won’t. but it’s worth it. I had to chop a lot of hair off to get rid of the fried crispy hair.I hope this review helps. It's been a few years since I tried manic panic. Daughter requested pink hair for her photoshoot, and I didn't think you could go wrong with this having used it in the past in other colours on myself. My daughter has light blonde untreated hair. Her hair has an uneven faintest of tints in certain areas but on the whole there's not even that, and where it inevitably got on her scalp her skin is luminous candy pink. Her hair feels awful afterwards. Followed instructions, she had it on for hours. Total waste of time and energy as she's pretty gutted now that she won't have the pink hair for her photos. Should have gone with La Riche Directions like we did last time. Read more
