This worked perfectly for my hair! As you can see it’s light bleached blond and very short I’ve been trying to get a nice steel gray without much luck I’ve used blue steel, silver stiletto, and pravana silver and they worked okay but not dark enough. This one worked well and was dark enough to actually see a visible difference in the color. The trick is not to dilute it which I noticed everyone does, I rolled the dice and just threw it on right from the jar on my clarified, clean, unconditioned hair, left it on for 40 mins and washed it out with shampoo (I’m ocd can’t not wash it) maybe this is not the color you’re looking for but I dig it! I think my hair is not quite a level 10 more just a light blonde and it worked well even with my slight yellow undertone I had. I’d say this has a purple undertone if you’re wondering. This product is not grey.. I don’t know how to even describe it. It’s almost got brown tones. We used on white bleached hair and it made it look like tones brown with the smallest silver highlights. And when she washed in cold for the first time, even those faded. I’ve used manic panic for as long as I can remember and besides the rockabilly blue bleeding for weeks, this is the first lack of color I’ve experienced. This is the second Manic Panic that didn't take to my hair, and I've never had a problem with them before. To the touch, there was no transfer of color, even to my fingers. The jar was smaller than normal. The color seemed diluted and was like a grey cream, not a hair dye. I kept it on my hair for 35 minutes (even though the directions said 30) and it washed right out like it was a conditioner or product that just sat on top of my head without penetrating the strands. Color was not nearly as dark as I was expecting from the photos/description. I put a photo of my hair as it was after bleaching to give an idea of the base I had for reference.I followed the instructions as written. I combed the dye through my hair and let sit, covered, for about 45 minutes. Despite my best efforts after rinsing and drying I can see that the coverage is very patchy. I have thin hair and about a quarter of it is shaved off and still probably would have needed two jars. Don’t think I’ll be trying this color again. Read more

I’ve been using Manic Panic for fifteen years and it’s one of the only formulas that hasn’t changed over the years. They’ve never compromised quality! It was my dye of choice for every color of the rainbow, even rainbow itself. The colors never bled into each other and it stayed vibrant for an absurdly long time. To make it last longer, always wash hair in tepid water, use a sulphate-free shampoo and don’t wash hair every day(it’s healthier for your scalp anyway!). The dye is ok, I trust this brand to have strong color power which this color doesn't. I admit there may be an issue with my toner. My hair was at a 9 blonde after bleach with yellow tones (much of it white as I have light brown and left in the bleach for 40 minutes), when I used the T18 (platinum toner) it slightly darkened my hair to a 7-8 (which it is not meant to do) In spite of following instructions. My hair IS grey, so it did work, but the coverage is a bit patchy (likely due to bleaching) and even though I left it in for an hour it didn't lay down well and slight yellow tones returned to my hair post dye.However I feel it's mostly my own fault, and grey IS a very hard color to achieve, I'm fairly happy with the result but the color it lays down and the example color shown are not quite the same. I expected a slightly darker steel grey (to cover any yellow tones that may remain) when this was designed as more of a light silver, the disparity between the shown color and the actual tone is why I took a star off.If you have white platinum hair (especially if you bleached already blonde hair for example) this is an EXCELLENT dye. But grey is the sort of color you should get done professional, and no matter your color dyes like this won't hold onto natural hair well and you need the bleach damage to allow it to hold Read more
I usually use a different brand but I decided I wanted to do a grey and purple ombre look so I bought this Manic Panic alien grey. All the pictures online show a nice fairly dark smokey grey...yeah didn't turn out that way. I lightened my hair to a level 9/10 (it was yellow but not orange) and followed the instructions on the tub....30 minutes later after rinsing my hair pretty much just looked blonde. Super disappointed I decided to give it another try and bleached my hair a second time then reapplied ... Yeah still not grey and certainly not a nice dark smokey color. Will not buy again Read more
