MULTI-SENSORY CLUTCHING BABY TOY: Classic, multi-sensory clutching rattle encourages grasping and reaching which are important for gross motor skills; the lightweight wooden dowels, smooth finish, and elastic ties make it easy for little hands to grab. BABY WOODEN RATTLE: The Skwish is surprisingly lightweight, allowing little ones the ease of sliding the beads back and forth on dowels, producing a very pleasing rattle sound and allowing baby to explore sound and learn cause and effect. DEVELOPMENTAL TEETHER TOY: The highly-regarded design of wood construction and elastic ties allow the unique rattle and teether to flatten, or "squish", and always return to its original shape. HEIRLOOM QUALITY WOODEN TACTILE TOY: The Skwish Classic Rattle and Teether safe for baby teething due to the baby-safe water-based acrylics that remain hardened, it has bountiful tactile qualities of smooth, yet perceptible wood grain texture. First off, I absolutely love Manhattan Toy products! That said, I’m going to say the same thing about this one as I said about another similar Manhattan Toy that I bought my son for his first birthday: the toy itself gets 5 stars, no question. However, if I were rating how much my son liked it, I would give it probably 2 1/2 stars because unfortunately, my one-year-old isn’t as thrilled about it as I am ☹️. He’s thrown it around a little bit, stepped on it a few times, shaken it once or twice, but other than that it’s gotten very little attention (from him) in the month or so since I bought it.Me, on the other hand .. I love it! I find it very aesthetically pleasing — the colors aren’t too dull or too bright — it’s made of a wonderfully soft, almost rubbery wood & it really is as elastic & squishy as they claim! I could literally spend hours just mindlessly squishing it, shaking it, or passing it from hand to hand.Another big plus is that because it’s such a well-made toy, I don’t see it breaking anytime soon, which means there’s lots of time yet for my son to fall in love with it! This has happened with a number of his other toys (possibly because he was born 6 weeks early so sometimes it can take a minute for him to catch up to what other kids his age are into). So, all that said, I would still buy it again .. it’s just one of those toys that you can really feel good about buying for your little one. Plus, what adult doesn’t love a toy they can play with, too?!Please let me know if you found this review helpful, as I also rely heavily on others’ reviews when purchasing items online 🙂. Read more

It's nothing really special. I liked it because my little one was very preoccupied with suckling on the endings of the toy while on "tummy time". It got him to stay occupied enough to break his time on his belly. I think as he grows into it, he would have more fun with squishing the toy and respond to the noise it makes from the inner bulbs hitting the wood pegs. Once major concern is that there is a little splinter sticking out where the ball meets the stick. It seems to be glossed over, but I will be sanding it down and more-podging it myself. Read more

Firstly, I was shocked to see it was not sturdy and held in place. It’s held together by bungee type cords and if you step on it will will flatten. I hope that makes sense.Secondly, my baby cut her lip on it somehow. I was sitting right there with her when. Happened. Baby was chewing away on the end and then she looked up and me in pain and cried. Sure enough, baby had a slice on inside of lip! I’ve been hesitant to get it out since. It’s cute. And colorful. And it’s neat how the beads move. Read more

I got this toy because I was hopeful for less plastic in the house. The problem is, when he was very little - he would ram himself in the eyes with the knobs (spastic baby movements) and really couldn't figure it out. Also him gnawing on the painted ends made me a bit nervous because I didn't want any paint to get in his mouth. So I gave it back to him a month or two later, he picked up once, was like - huh what is this - and moved on to something else. He was never really interested in it. He is not a big rattle guy though in general and would pick up rattle and move on with almost every rattle!I rated this low for teething because of the paint thing, and low for easy to clean because omg if this got nasty I cannot imagine how you'd clean it! There's fabric covering the bugees and those flow into the wood. It wouldn't be a pretty picture if you needed to get spit up out of it or something like that! Read more

Babies and toddlers enjoy this toy. This is my go-to baby shower or "1st Birthday" gift.I bought these for my children when they were toddlers (late 1980's). Back then the toy had metal bells in addition to the wooden beads. The bells were probably discontinued due to product safety and liability concerns. The current version of this toy is still a joy. Bright colors, squishy movement, sliding beads... what's not to like?I like it, too. The geometry and symmetry appeal to me. Read more

My son absolutely loves this toy! I got it when he turned 4 months and he immediately grabbed for it.He likes squishing it and putting it in his mouth but we have to watch him carefully because he gets excited and starts banging it. He’s hit himself a couple of times with it but just stops briefly and keeps going.I’m sure he’ll love this a few months down as well when he can figure out not to hit his face. Read more

I bought this on a whim; I seen it, read the reviews, and purchased it without really thinking too much of it. I had no idea what this product would “do” or look like, it’s my first time seeing this ever! The cleaning was fairly easy, because it’s wooden I didn’t want to soak it in water so I got a damp rag and start to wipe it all over (soap, water, quick rinse&dry) worked perfectly fine for us. My daughter is only a couple of months old and she’s able to lift this toy up perfectly fine, she finds it interesting to look at, the small knobs move around, and SUPER light weight. Anyway, she’s at the age where she tries to puts everything in her mouth and she did so with this product and so far seems perfectly fine with it. I would definitely recommend this product although just by looking at it I would never thought this would be a big hit for my daughter and I’m glad! Read more

I got this for our infant, and it quickly became one of his favorites.1st off the balls on the edges have been great for him while teething, and he enjoys just putting it in his mouth and going to down on it. Also the strings make it really easy to hold for infants especially when they are just learning how to grasp. It's been a nice progression from holding the strings, to the wooden bars to the ball edges.Best things about it though is it hasn't snapped or broken apart like a couple of the other days. I like to squeeze the toys every so often to show him what to do and things like that and many cheaper made ones have broke, this one has held up.Great toy for infants, would definitely recommend everyone to get. It's beautiful to look at and clearly doesn't look cheap. In fact, it looks pretty "designer" even just sitting on the shelf. However, my baby gets bored of it in under a minute. The sounds are so soft and gentle that they don't sustain her interest (though they're music to my ears compared to the electronic toys), and there doesn't seem to be a lot happening when she interacts with it. Maybe it works for babies who can razor focus, but for babies that are very curious like mine, it isn't enough. Read more

This is a really great wooden toy! It's well made and very interactive. The elastics add a whole other level of fun but also reduce chances of damage to the floors or furniture if thrown. Highly recommended! Read more
