I spent my whole life, since 20 months of age, dancing, and then adding gymnastics and track and horseback riding. I’ve done a lot, and at 46 now, I still love being very active with my kids, but surely, I feel the pain. Move Free brand, it hasn’t ever let me down. I’m very familiar with them, and highly recommend the brand AND this product, in particular. I have been a user of Move Free products for a long time.However, Move Free Ultra with Magnesium Vitamin D3 and Calcium Fructoborate caught my attention. I did some research on the NIH website about calcium fructoborate (CF) and learned that it is a natural compound found in fresh fruits and vegetables and it has protective effect against inflammation, which is the main cause of joint pains regardless of the disease process causing the inflammation. It provides support against the discomfort and lack of flexibility associated with arthritis and joint degeneration. In addition, the article on the NIH site mentions “orally administered CF is effective in ameliorating symptoms of physiological response to stress, including inflammation of the mucous membranes, discomfort associated with osteoarthritis disorders, and bone loss, and also for supporting cardiovascular health”.I knew Vitamin D and calcium are important for bone health and Magnesium is important for muscle health. This supplement gives me 100% of Vitamin D, so I do not have to take a separate vitamin D pill. I feel happy that I can mix this product with other Move Free products combining Glucosamine chondroitin and hyaluronic acid - essential for joint health. It is a unique red and white capsule so easy to differentiate from other pills in my pill box and easy to swallow. It is usually hard to tell the effectiveness of the supplement in one week; however, the medical article on the NIH website stated that the effect of oral CF is felt in two weeks. So many people take glucosamine chondroitin for their knee pain, but it just doesn’t work for me. I’m glad Schiff makes a variety of joint formulas to experiment with. I’ve found this formula pairs well with other Schiff supplements I use, like Move Free Ultra Triple Action and Advanced Collagen Peptides powder, which also incorporates calcium fructoborate, a relatively new anti-inflammatory. CF is a natural sugar-borate ester found in fresh fruits and vegetables, and is a source of soluble boron, which eases the discomfort and lack of flexibility associated with arthritis and joint degeneration. This capsule formula is more convenient to take, but I like both formulas that contain FruiteX-B.I alternate days between the supplements with fructoborate and Move Free Ultra Triple Action tablets. They’re easy to take once-a-day supplements too, and include some similar ingredients to the powder, but the triple action tabs also incorporate hyaluronic acid, which works well for me.I can’t always tell when a supplement is doing any good, but I can with these formulas, and they allow me to keep up with two very active six year old grandsons. For many of us who suffer from osteoarthritis, it's all about reducing knee pain. When I got Schiff's Magnesium Vitamin D3 & Calcium Fructoborate Joint Health Supplement, that was my goal. Consider this a review in progress as I am just starting with this supplement. I like that you only have to take one capsule per day. Unfortunately, you only get 30 capsules per bottle, and it's a bit pricey.As for the main ingredient, I had never heard of Calcium Fructoborate before. But after reading up on it, it sure sounds promising. According to an article in the National Library of Medicine, double-blind active and placebo-controlled studies with Calcium Fructoborate showed a potential for pain reduction, improved physical ability, and even improved cholesterol levels. That certainly sounds positive, but time will tell if I notice any improvement in my knee pain. I realize I may have to take it for a while before I feel anything. But I'd say it's 4.5 stars for now. I know the importance of Magnesium and D3 but am not as familiar with Calcium Fructoborate. My decades of running and other athletic activities has left me with a lot of aches and pains but I'm not going to stop being active now that I'm older. I no longer run but I do hike everyday and I want to stay active the rest of my life. This supports muscle, joint, and bone health and gives me two supplements that I know I need. I think it's helping me to feel better which allows me to keep moving everyday. I'm glad that I know about Calcium Fructoborate and will further explore it's use in my health regimen. Read more
