So far this is the best steamer I’ve used. I’m a broadway performer currently touring the US in the National Tour of Les Miserables. I use the steamer at least 2-3x a day. The steam I get is in good quantity. The housing is easy to clean and I like the extra tray for adding essential oil. Even if this just lasts me a year it’s well worth it. Updated again 3/22/18:Now the soft plastic purple face mask has broken away from the inhale tube (see new uploaded photo). You can see on the inside where the plastic has fail and separated. Will glue it with epoxy to keep it going, but this thing is really awful, definitely one of the worst products I have ever purchased.Updated 2/24/18:After several months of use, this unit is now puddling water at base on table after every use. Also, the power indicator light at base of unit has stopped working. I should mention that several reviewers have commented that there is no way for the plastic to crack unless the unit is rinsed after use while still hot. Not true. I have never done this and have always allowed the unit to cool down before rinsing or cleaning, so this is not a material expansion/contraction problem due to cleaning. I still maintain that the manufacturer has used the wrong type of plastic for the application.Original review:I really wanted to like this as it produces steam well and has some nice features, but the plastic case is completely failing after several weeks of use (refer to pics). The plastic at the back of unit where the top cover snaps in place has crumbled and broken away, so the top cover no longer stays on. Also, a large stress crack developed that extends from the AC POWER cord entry point towards the top of the unit. The manufacturer has obviously used the wrong type of plastic for this design application as it is too brittle and does not stand up to heat well. The top cover retaining features are also too weak. Do not recommend buying unless you enjoy repairing all these defects yourself, which I am now forced to do. I believe getting a replacement would be a waste of time as this is obviously a common design defect based on other Amazon reviewer complaints, which I unfortunately ignored. Read more

Have used this for about a week and am very happy with the purchase. Short of having a prescription nebulizer with prescription medication for it, this vaborizer is an excellent choice for home care of bronchitis, etc. which is what I'm using it for. It's easy to use. There are two reservoirs; one for plain water and another for water/liquid steam medications such as Vicks or Equate generic. The construction materials seem to be appropriate -- nothing feels flimsy or cheap. I think it's a good value purchase. Cleaning is easy. Some commenters has talked about the "mask" that actually fits to your nose/mouth; perhaps it could be a bit larger. Well, I'm not so sure that's a valid complaint. On my first use, I attempted to keep my face/nose tight to the mask. I wouldn't advise that because you'll trap the vapor and make the inhalation too hot. I find it works best when I hold my face as close as possible but not actually touching. You can inhale two different ways: 1) mouth 2) nose. You either hold your nose within the "mask" or your nose above the "mask" with your mouth open. Accordingly you'll either breath in through your nose; out your nose or in through your mouth; out your nose. As you experiment, you'll get the hang of it. Instructions aren't perfect, but you do have a brain that'll figure it out. Without a doubt, I'd make this purchase again. Couple this device with a neti pot and I think you'd have a home nasal/throat/lungs therapy session. It's well worth the money. Only time will tell the longevity of the device. Read more

This is THE BEST LITTLE STEAM INHALER EVER !! I needed to replace a very old steam inhaler and replaced it with the new "My PurMist". Very expensive and lasted all of three minutes and stopped working...FOR GOOD! What a piece of crap. The company did not stand behind their product and had a no return policy but Amazon refunded my money. I am very pleased with Amazons customer service. Great to have gotten my money back but was still in need of a steam inhaler. None that I found fit my need then I came across the Mabis. I am a retired nurse and the product name rang a bell so I ordered it. It could not have arrived at a better time. The horrible cold that I had was in fact Pneumonia and this little gem of a machine made breathing and clearing my airway so much easier. I truly feel that it helped keep me out of the hospital and it was one fifth of the cost of the My PurMist. I had a Kaz personal steam inhaler and used it happily for 18 years! Vicks is the brand selling these now; they are less expensive, but I noticed when I bought one for relatives that they don't appear to be as well made. So I got the Mabis inhaler, and have decided it's not for me. I like a slower, longer-lasting steam treatment, and I loved the simple operation of the Kaz. The Mabis has a lot of parts to assemble and clean, and I tend to avoid using it frequently for this reason, and because the steam blasts me and only lasts a few minutes. I recognize that others love the Mabis, but it's not for me. I'm going back to the Kaz/Vicks inhaler! Read more

I ended up returning this product for one big reason. There's no way to regulate the temperature of the steam. When I placed my face up against the face shield, as instructed by the manufacturer, it felt like I was breathing in scalding water. The inside of my nose burned for quite a while afterwards. I'm so thankful I didn't let a child use this. Another bad thing is the design of the unit. If you fully extend the arm, the bottom of the unit will topple over. The only good thing I can say is that I liked that it had a longer electrical cord. But that wasn't enough to keep the thing from being returned. Read more

The inhaler arrived with an American electrical plug which I was not expecting so I haven’t actually used it yet. I wish they would tell you this. When you order from Amazon Australia you think you are getting a product you can use in Australia. Read more
