At forty-something, I have used dozens of brands of mascara. ...From Mary Kay to Cover Girl. I have naturally long lashes, but I am blonde and fair. I need mascara to make my lashes pop. And, I swear this actually adds length onto your lashes. I refuse to get on the fake eyelash bandwagon. Frankly, it sounds like a pain. I don’t think I need them. At least, not with L’Orėal Voluminous Original Mascara.I rediscovered this mascara a couple years ago. I had worn it as a young adult and somehow lost track of the brand. Never again! I get compliments when I wear it. I even get asked if my lashes are my own.Criticisms? Sometimes it can come out of the bottle a little gloppy. I just keep a roll of paper towels in the bathroom. When it does look gloppy, I brush it lightly on the paper towel first to take off excess. Simple as that. Otherwise it goes on beautifully. The only other issue is this mascara is a booger to get off. A simple facial wipe may not do the trick without rubbing at your eyes too vigorously. Take it from someone my age, you don’t want to rub at your eyes. That’s how you end up with baggy eyelids and under eyes. Make sure you have eye remover makeup (I use either a cream based one or an organic liquid I found) with your facial tissues (I use Amazon’s Vitamin C wipes and love them). Just remember to take care of your skin after you take off your makeup. Put that moisturizer and under eye cream on before bed. If you do that and stay out of the sun without sunscreen, your face will thank you as you age. And, you will look even better with this mascara for years to come! I’d recommend this product. I read the reviews on this prior to purchasing, due to the fact, I have such small lashes I am constantly trying to find some kind of mascara that makes them look longer and fuller. So when this came in I went straight to a mirror to try it out. There are a few things you need to watch when using this product.1. Make sure when you open it it is not all clumped together.2. wipe off all the excess on the brush3. Start at the base of your eyelash and work to the tip4. Wait a few seconds before applying the second coat ( you do not want it to still be completely wet as it will clump your lashes together)And we all no how bad it will be if they are completely dry.This mascara will make you lashes look long and beautiful. I absolutely love this mascara and the price is a lot cheaper than any drugstore.I love L'Oreal's mascara and the volume and length you get from this is amazing. When I take a few minutes to put this on I get tons of compliments on my eyes.It is also extremely easy to remove I use lotion or soap. This is a great mascara. It goes on smoothly, no clumps, and stays all day. I don't have to worry about smudges or smears beneath the eyes. This is truly a waterproof mascara. I can go swimming, or take a bath, and it still looks fabulous! It comes off easily when I want it too. Not sure if I got a faulty product or maybe something that was expired.. but beware! I got an eye infection or something of the sorts. My lash line is sooooo irritated... my lids are swollen straight across the lash line.. almost as if they are burned.. i bought this on Wednesday, wore it Thursday and Friday, and by the time I took my makeup off on Friday night I thought maybe I was having an allergic reaction because my eyes were almost swelled shut. I liked the product, the brush, and how it made my lashes look.. but would be afraid to ever wear again... this is the only new product I'm wearing so I'm sure it's the cause. Would not recommend. This is the best mascara I have ever used and I’ve never bought a bad tube. I’m beyond fussy with my mascara and having a monthly beauty bag subscription, I have gotten to try a huge variety of extremely expensive mascaras that you would buy in boutique stores, none even come close to this very reasonably priced, department store mascara. It goes on very smoothly, doesn’t leave any clumps but still provides dramatic effects with two coats(two coats for me looks almost like falsies) and a still beautiful and noticeable effect even after just one (I use it for a more natural, daytime look to enhance my natural features in a more subtle way). It didn’t dry too quickly, so it’s easy to build that second coat but was dry within 5 minutes, so it didn’t smudge or run. I’m a server and have used this mascara before working a 12-hour shift that involved a massive amount of running around and physical activity and it never smudged or gave me the dreaded, raccoon eyes! As a server, I rarely or sometimes never get to check my face in a mirror during service so this is so vital to me! The funny part is; my mom used to be a professional makeup artist 35 years ago or so, and L’Oreal voluminous mascara(they often slightly change the wording, but that’s what this line of mascara is a part of) is always one of two that she has always recommended to me(since I was 13, I’m 33 now and she’d been using it since probably being a teen, definitely by the time she was 20, so a very long history with this mascara). The other staple mascara is maybelline great lash, for the curious.This was a really detailed review, for those that find it too long to read; this is simply the best mascara you will buy at any price. I'm so mad at myself for spending so much on mascaras before this one... this is better than They're Real, Better Than Sex and Glossier's mascara put together! I only gave a 4 star rating as my eyes were feeling irritated after about 3 hours when I took the mascara off. I do have very sensitive eyes so this I an issue with alot of mascaras so went for one that's meant to be OK for sensitive eye's. I put a base of a black premium brand mascara first which I'm fine with and used this more for colour and volume so it wasn't at the base of my lashes. Gives brilliant volume, lovely colour although I needed quite alot over the black to make an impact. I wiped it off using warm water. No smudging or flaking for the time I was wearing it. Read more
