I have always gotten my hair colored in the salon using Pravana 9N. I wanted to save money and try doing it myself at home. I purchased this hair color (9N) and touched up just my roots to start. It was a perfect match! The color is identical to the professional Provana color I've been paying hundreds of dollars for. The color match was flawless and you can't tell when I stopped/started the color. It was very easy to mix and apply. It comes with a plastic brush to help with areas around your face, but I used a toothbrush for those areas. There is a slight smell, but nothing over-powering like some other box colors. This product works really well IF you are 70 percent gray or more. If you're not mostly gray, it will come off darker than desired and you'll miss the multi-tone effect. It's not meant to cover a little bit of gray but is designed for people with mostly gray hair. My hair texture is fine and naturally curly. I started using L'Oreal Preference when I was about 40, gradually changed to L'Oreal Excellence as I got more gray. I switched to Age Perfect when it came out and went to a lighter shade than I'd used in Excellence. The tone on tone color and "highlights" are beautiful, my hair is soft, and the multi-tones really help blend my roots as they grow out so I can go longer between coloring sessions. I absolutely LOVE the 8G Medium Soft Golden Blonde. Color is true to the box, creating more of a rose-gold tone without a lot of red or brass. In this photo I hadn’t left it in long enough, but you can see the different tones it still created. PI am 63 years old with thin curly hair that's a mix of 1/3 gray & 2/3 natural dirty blonde that picks up both ash and gold tones. I wash my hair the night before I color and apply 1/2 the provided conditioner plus a little protein spray like "Its a 10" (because my hair is porous and my town’s water is hard). Next morning I color the roots for 15 mins and apply the rest all over my hair for 5 mins more. Rinse, wash with my usual herbal essences non-paraben gentle shampoo, and then condition with the rest of the provided tube. I wash every other day, conditioning that first day with Loreal Extraordinary Oil for Curly Hair and next day with L’Oréal Restore and Repair (both have purple trim containers).No skin allergies with this brand of hair color, plus color last 3-4 weeks. The lady who cuts my hair says my hair looks healthier than when I had her coloring it and blends my grays better. I do not know what happened this time but my hair came out in handfuls when I rinsed out the color. I have used L’Oréal for years. I followed directions. I not sick nor am I taking any medicine that would affect me or cause my hair to fall out. I am kind of afraid that this is a fake product on Amazon. I normally by hair color from the pharmacy. I have been using this product for years and it works great. Easy to use and has a nice color - not brassy or totally one color. Looks natural. I get hair cut at various places - all private local places - and each time the stylist comments on the way the color looks. They never suggest that they color it. Excellent product. Covered my grey well without making my hair brassy (I have some natural red that lends itself to brassy and this isn't at all) or feel too dry. I would recommend giving your hair a good deep conditioning a day or so before coloring, but compared to most brands I've tried, L'Oreal color doesn't dry nearly as badly. And to add a nice compliment, my hair dresser said this color on me is as good as she could do and recommended I stay with this color and brand. UPDATE: I have to add one thing. I noticed the expiration date on the packaging was over three years ago! Didn't seem to affect the color (maybe not quite as good of coverage I've had in the past?) but it doesn't change the fact this should not have been sold three years past the expiration date. The fact the outside was all taped up should have been my first clue. Someone must have bought up old inventory from somewhere. I think I had the right to know this before purchasing. Read more

Excellent product. I purchased to correct another brand of ash blonde that turned purple. I thought the gold would neutralize the purple and it did much much more.The fact that it is designed for mature grey/white hair made my hair soft, lustrous and youthful. The shade is a gorgeous lt/medium golden BLONDE with lighter highlights throughout.It's been 5 weeks and the colour has held nicely with 2-3 washes a week going a slightly lighter shade of gold!I highly recommend and have already purchased it again. Good hair color system for hair that is more than 50 percent gray. It doesn’t dry out hair and hair is shiny.If you have colour resistant gray leave on longer and invest in good shampoo conditioner to prevent fading.I use root touch up to extend time between coloring because it fades so quickly for me.
