I have used Excel Sensor blades for years and wanted to try old style shaving. Got a few handles and this was the best. I really like the look, weight and length and if I was going to continue doing old style shaving I would use this one. BUT, it's not a better shave than my Gillette and it's not cheaper than my Gillette, so after trying for 2 weeks I'm GOING BACK TO MY Gillette. Here's why:1) NOT CHEAPER - a) I was getting tired of paying ridiculous money for blades that probably cost like $.01 to manufacture. So I try this old style shaving with metal blades. Turns out NOT CHEAPER. You have to change the blade EVERY day or you will get cut up bad. Depending on whose blades you get they are going to cost approx. $.25 per day. So that is $1.75 per week. I can get my Gillettes in bulk for about $1.00 and they last a week. b) You need a different more expensive shave cream that has a higher lubricating factor and which you need a brush to lather up right. It cost more and you have to buy more frequently. But, some of it smells really nice and I might keep using the cream.2) NOT BETTER SHAVE - a) It turns out those old tv ads that showed you why 2 or 3 blades are better than 1 are right! These single blades don't give as close a shave. b) Easy to get cut and nicked. c) You get a lot more ingrown hairs.3) NOT FASTER - Because of the single blade you have to go over things a lot slower and more times. So between having to lather up the cream and going super slow so as not to get cut and also having to go over everything several times to get that close shave it takes longer.That is why I am going back to my Gillette. I can use a blade for a week. I can use just about any shave cream and I can shave super fast without getting my face hacked up. Read more

I guess I'm glad Gillette put out that man hating crap ad, because that is what made me buy this excellent razor. I just used it for the first time. It's the first time I've used anything but canned shave cream and a cartridge razor from Misandry incorporated. I have to tell you, it's a much better experience. I also used William's Shaving Soap, and a genuine badger bristle shaving brush. The soap was warm, and the brush felt good on my skin. The soap smelled great. First time using a safety razor, and I got a good close shave with no cuts. My face feels great rather than scraped raw like it did with Craplette products. The razor itself is a work of art. It's a beautiful tool in the gunmetal. The large knurling pattern on the handle that makes it sparkle so appealingly in the light also gives a firm grip on the handle for good control. I have been using double-edge for about a year and a half now. The first razor I had was far too aggressive for my skin, no matter how carefully I tried to shave I always came out of the shower with leg and armpit nicks cuts, even a couple of gouges when I wasn't being careful.So after a year of blood, sweat and stinging, I got tired of blaming my technique and found this razor. After reading a few reviews, I bought it and hoped for the best. Let me tell you, the first time I tried it, it was like seeing your crush for the first time! I was getting bored of my old merkur razor that had gotten a bit tarnished over the years. This looked cool and had great reviews so I gave it a try. The butterfly mechanism seemed to close pretty well but there was a horrible rattle. When i shaved i nicked myself for the first time in years, and even with different blade it had a horrible feel when shaving with it. I switched the same razor over to my other blade and it was a completely different experience.TLDR::::Thought it had to be a bad product i received so i ordered another one, same exact rattle and experience. I’m no stranger to safety razors. Ive been using a MERKUR Safety Razor for the last 10 years and assorted straight razors as well. That being said when I saw this razor I liked what I saw. From the shiny gun metal finish to the Butterfly style opening. The handle is long enough to where you get a good grip and hold on the razor which is nice, it also is heavy enough to make it well balanced in your hand. I paired it with the Japanese Stainless steel Razors, Viking Revolution also sells and they went together like peas and carrots. After shaving with the razor I was happy with the job it did. El rastrillo llegó bien empacado en una caja de cartón duro que sirve para transportarlo sin que se maltrate, trae 10 hojas en su cajita de cartón, una pegatina, instrucciones, tarjeta de agradecimiento de compra y una pequeña brocha para limpiar el rastrillo. Se nota que es una compañía que se preocupa por la calidad, no obstante la maquinilla es hecha en china, se ve bien terminada, suena algo aunque se cierre bien, No indica que metal es pero pareciera acero y da la apariencia como tipo pavonado que mas bien es como barniz negro brillante, el mango es largo con cuadritos lo que que da un buen agarre y ayuda a manejar el rastrillo, tiene un lado en que sale la hoja un poco mas para un corte mas agresivo, su hechura no es tan robusta y se alcanza a escuchar como va cortando la hoja, la cual viene muy bien afilada . No sé si se debe al tipo de acabado pero con este rastrillo necesité mas jabón para rasurar que con otra maquinilla de acero inoxidable pulido. Como el rastrillo se enjuaga para quitar los restos de jabón y barba, los componentes quedan húmedos y no sé hasta donde llega el agua, pero por si las dudas lo trato de secar y dejar colgado con el mango hacia arriba para que escurra y no llegue a oxidarse. I am impressed by the elegent design of the gunmetal black butterfly shaver. This stainless steel version of my brother's chromed shaver was heavier with an even longer handle than his 'long handle'. Having ordered Gelette platinum blades, I used the Gillette's blade with it. As one with little experience, I wanted the assurance that comes with quality products, hoping my risk was minimalized. The weight and length of the handle means that no pressure has to be applied to the shaver in shaving.I was so impressed with this shaver, I felt compelled to convince the aforementioned brother to try it and he was also impressed with the quality so I ordered another one! What a great little safety razor. It's easy to clean, comes with 10 decent blades (you may want to buy some higher quality ones later) and gives me a much closer shave than a cartridge razor.It takes a little bit to find the right angle and pressure(about 45 degrees and let it glide), but you'll get it after a few shaves and wonder why you ever settled for expensive cartridge razors.I've been using the same blade for 2 months now (I shave every 1 - 3 days usually) and it's been holding up like a champ. Was so impressed with the packaging!!! It comes nicely boxed, and would make an excellent gift! I hesitated buying a safety razor for fear of cutting myself, but i had no problems and wish I had bought this sooner. As a girl, it left my legs silky smooth, and I would definitely recommend! Read more
