I’ve tried other light switch locks, my 2 year old usually defeats them in seconds. I purchased these because they appeared to have a much better design. I ordered the 2 pack and installed them on a double switch plate. Installation took maybe 2 minutes with only a phillips head screw driver. Once installed, not only could my son not hit the switches, it even stopped my wife!It doesn’t take a lot of force to open, you just have to know how, it takes two hands. These are more expensive than other light switch locks ($10 for two), but it is absolutely worth it because it works. It doesn’t matter how much money you save if the product doesn’t work. I only needed 2, it was well worth it and it does exactly what it says. Read more

These child-resistant light switch protectors do what they say they’ll do. My child couldn’t get them open, not even my older child. It takes two hands for me or my wife to even open them. The gate that keeps the switch in the up or down position was tight in one of the positions no matter how I adjusted the screws or spacer so just be aware that it may be a bit tight. However, the metal pin for the hinge helps maintain the strength of the gate and the plastic seems pretty strong. The bottom ribbed button would not always engage the gate fully, but a little push on the gate or the button upwards engaged it just fine. Once you realize what you have do to secure it, it isn’t a big deal. Easy to install, did not need their screws and the screws that came with my light switch were already long enough. Read more

This is as childproof for up to 3 as it gets. I say only 3 because these little ones are smart and if they were to see someone unlatch this, they could figure it out. Others that appear child proof create a fun challenge that is easily solved. Somehow building code allowed for our garbage disposal on/off switch to be at the end of the kitchen island where the sink is!! It’s toddler height, how often do they see that opportunity!!!When kids flip the switch they love that cause and effect and don’t understand “dangerous”when nothing happens when the noise comes on. who wants to say cut off your hand! be afraid of helping at the sink? We kept it unplugged under the sink, but that was also confusing for adults. THIS WORKS!! Read more

Bought this so my five year old could use the switch but the two-year-old couldn't. That worked; it is the appropriate amount of difficulty for a 4-year-old (not sure easy for me either, cannot do it with one hand, for example). We got used to it and it worked well. Until it broke after only 2-3 months of use. Great design, cheap plasitc. Read more

My four year old flips every switch she finds in the house. She NEEDS to know what they all do.While i told her she’s not allowed in the utility room, I figure why chance it with the furnace switch. My switch is a small metal plate tight up against the unit so I needed something skinnier than a full plate cover. This fit the bill.Held the metal plate in place with my finger, removed the screws and installed this in under 5 minutes, no problem.I applied a decent amount of force to the switch afterwards and it stayed in place. This will solve your problem for all standard scenarios. Anyone using enough force to defeat this will probably be an adult who will break any safeguard you install. Read more

Perfect for keeping the circuit on (or off) at all times! Smart lighting doesn't work very well when the physical lightswitch is off, so I install these to prevent accidental switch flicking! Super easy to put on, really glad they include spacers to go behind the device. Older, bulkier toggle switches require the spacers so that the "lockout bar" latches properly. (I live in an old house, so old bulky switches is all I have) Read more

I never expected to need this as I don't have or want kids. However, it appears that when the world has children they will get everywhere. I got this so the neighbors kids would stop turning out the lights in the stairwell to my apartment and it has proven annoying enough to them that they have left it alone. I no longer have to worry about falling down the stairs because someone's kids don't have supervision. Yay! Read more

I have ordered this 3 times and all 3 times the item is not the right one as per the description and photo as shown on this listing. I don't know if this is a seller problem or an Amazon problem but I am quite upset. After talking to Amazon ensuring me I will get the correct one next time. As you seen on the photo I have uploaded, it is not the same as this described item and I did not get the item that others have received previously. My kids have figured this out in no time and I've been desperately trying to find a kid proof solution for my sanity sake. Read more

These are OK and they work, but they're not as pictured in the listing. There's no sliding tabs that you pull up and down, just a horizontal bar that clips into place without locking - you pry it up with a fingernail. They also don't sit flush. They're apparently designed to fit into the bevelled screw holes on the wall plate, but they don't fit into mine which means they're slightly raised and there's a gap between the guard and the wall plate. They came provided with screws, but the screws were no longer than the ones I already had. I chose these specifically because i liked the design of the mechanism, so I'm disappointed to get something else even if it does work as intended. Read more
