For over 20 years I paid someone to basically ruin my hair. Looking back, I don't know why. I didn't have gray hair at the time as I do now, but I did it anyway because that's just what most women do. Over the years I lost track of my natural hair color but knew it was a dark brown. My hair is naturally thin and straight and after 2 weeks from the salon it would have a orangish hue (even though it was permanent dye). My hair was super damaged (even though I only went dark) and brittle. This worked great and my hair feels soft and looks very shiny. I bought the medium brown shade and it’s darker than I thought but I love it. The hardest part of using this was that it starts to dry out and get thicker in the bowl as you put it on. so by the end it was like clay texture and my hair was a matted mess. But I may not have used enough water in the mix. It was a process to rinse out and I needed a LOT of conditioner, but the results speak for themselves. It covered up my greys amazingly well. I have been using this for YEARS!! I just use half of a box each time and mix it with boiling coffee. Really strong and at least a day old coffee is the best. Coffee is good if you want brown tones to be more prominent than the red tones, if not, then you should use water and heat while you wait. I leave it in for 45 minutes, under saran wrap, then rinse. I use a comb under the shower to help get the mixture out. Love this stuff...it seems to condition my hair and is super gentle on it (regular hair color causes breakage). Read more

I ordered this hair dye for my mother. My mom is getting older and her hair is more brittle, dry, and thinner than I've ever seen it in her either life. I knew that dying her hair with regular hair dye would be a bad idea, as it tends to dry out the hair and damage it even worse. I have personally used this brand of dye in a different color (bright red) and absolutely loved it! As the "closet hippie" of my family I really do try to use all natural products. I'm not a fan of chemicals touching my skin AT ALL! I suggested this to my mom and she said she'd allow me to try it on her. My mother's hair was basically all silver to start. This dye is a little different that most dyes in the time it takes to "cure" it. Once mixed, you have to allow this dye time to sit in order to get to potency to dye your hair. Also, you can mix this with yogurt to add a little moisture, which I think is REALLY awesome and unique! You're going to need a non-metal bowl to mix this in, preferrably something you don't care if it gets stained. Also, plastic wrap to cover it up so it can set. Once the dye is set, apply it to the hair. From there it takes anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. Because her hair was salt and pepper, I allowed this to sit on her hair for 3 hours before washing it out. In total the process took about 7 hours. I got the dye ready before she even came over, so it was no big deal. Do this on a day you're not busy, as it does take a little bit of time and preparation! After washing her hair out and allowing it to air dry (we don't damage with heat, either) her hair looked beautiful! I am incredibly pleased with the outcome of the color and can honestly say, the box is pretty accurate to what it indicates your hair looking as after applying the dye. Overall, for the price this is an INCREDIBLE deal. Don't ruin your hair using those harsh, EXPENSIVE chemicals. Try this! I doubt you'll be disappointed! Read more

I do like light mountain products I have used the mahogany color on my light Brown hair and it made it a nice deeper red Brown. That color however became a bit of a burgundy color after I applied it for the 3rd time after about 9 months. With my hair now being a bit burgundy, I wanted to make it a medium Brown so I brought to the medium Brown hair color and only left to on my hair for an hour and a 1/2 and it turned it black.
