I do not speak Portuguese but she's hot and I love the entire album. Her band is great, together they're a perfect package. She doesn't have the perfect voice or perfect pitch, even an occasional crack in her voice and yet there's a sultry beauty to her sound and though I'm not understanding the words the songs none the less evoke a mood be it fun or romance or sexy. They say unpaid streaming does not support artists. There is no way I would have discovered Luisa Maita if I had not heard other Brazilian singers before on Pandora, Amazon, iTunes Radio, and Spotify. Some even say PAID streaming does not support artists unless they charge $10 or, ugh, $20 a month.Wrong. I paid for a service (albeit, iTunes Radio at $25 a year) and STILL bought this album. Well, actually, I got it for free by saving Amazon money by getting some shipments later than two days. But, she still got her cut.A cut far more deserving than the over hyped American pop and rap artists of today.Anyhow, the album is great. Just get it. It works better when played start to finish anyhow. Not the random jumble of misc. artists we listen to on internet radio, paid or unpaid. Read more

Interesting music, beautifully sung, wonderful production. Love this album. It kept me engaged all the way through and most albums usually have one or two unlistenable clunkers.Anybody who loves Sia (and/or Zero 7), Bebel Gilberto or Bjork (probably) will likely love this album. Read more

Really beautiful music in the vein of Gilberto and Jobin. Powerful and traditional songs but modern as well. You won’t be disappointed with this record. Read more

When I purchased this album, I'd only heard three or four songs by Luisa Maita. I was pleasantly suprised to find that every song on this album has something to offer. Turn up the bass; its free-flowing nature lends the music a beautifully relaxing vibe that is perfect for cooking, lounging around the house, or entertaining. Would highly recommend this CD to any fan of well composed music! Read more

Maria Luisa has the potential of becoming a fine Brazilian artist . I like the comparison to Ceu , but like Ceu , many of her songs are a bit unimaginative . I like her soft voice , but she needs a little work in making her voice more professional . So, I would give this album a C+. To Luisa Maria I would suggest : Find better composers . I would direct readers to the likes of Rosa Passos , Celso Fonseca , Marcio Faraco and the great Caetano Veloso . Read more

Album: Lero LeroLuísa Maita, a new huge talent and stunning beauty, appears to easily be latest up and coming São Paulo siren showcasing her talents on her debut album "Lero Lero" - which is slang in Brazilian Portuguese for "idle chit chat".There is a saying in Brazil, that São Paulo is where you make your money and Rio is where you spend it - her roots in S.P. show that this album is all business. Each track offers something new, nothing comes off contrived, as it always feel organic. She masterfully flows her words to construct, if you will, undercurrents of rhythms built right into the lyrics particularly in Alento, a song about the industrious city of Sao Paulo, and Lero-Lero which is a bit more earthy and soulful.Lero-Lero weaves in a lot of things from many diverse sounds - electronic sounds, to make-out Samba, to Dub Reggae (which is big in Brazil); all flowing together to make a new, fresh, and exciting sound. What other better way to represent this up and coming country? There are also two Remixed Lero-Lero albums that are of worth giving a listen to as well.I've spent more than 6 years listening exclusively to Brazilian music, and I don't like the negative reviews at all. I find their review(s) particularly anemic because it's really talking about a "dividing line" (if you will) between the more classic sounds and these new artists who are blending in a lot of different things to make exciting new contemporary music. I mean how is Céu marginalized after hearing "Malemolência", a song around a word meaning that certain "thing" that makes someone effortlessly great at something. Or Luisa's piercing and soulful voice in "Lero Lero". How can you not love "Alento" the part staggered and smooth pace of "Alento" ? Luisa is everywhere in Brazil, billboards, jingles, etc. and rightfully so.Sure, music is subjective, that is my exactly point - I love all of the music that purist reviewers mentioned, they all fit together well because for example Celso Fonseca and say Clara Moreno are throw back Samba singers, you could even say that about some of Bebel Gilberto's work as well. Though, Céu , Luisa Maita, Roberta Sa, Roberta Campos, Seu Jorge, Vanessa Da Mata, Nina Becker, Sonantes, etc. etc. etc. are great in their own right. I think if one widens thier views, they will come to appreciate and love an album that stands out in it's own right. I absolutely agree with all of the buzz around this album, it has so much character, and soul...Luisa, é demais demais!Free Live audio Track:[...] Read more
