My son bought these with his allowance after using them in school to learn math. He uses them like Legos to build things. They do allow for a lot of creativity, and he has enjoyed playing with them. Like another reviewer, I note that the quality doesn't seem to be all that high. I suspect that after more time some of the parts that are supposed to lock together will be too loose to do so. It also might be helpful to know that the set doesn't come with any holding case. It just comes in a cardboard shipping box that is not handy to store them in, so if you buy them you'll want a large ziploc bag or plastic bin to put them in. Read more

I've used snap cubes and Unifix cubes in my classroom for years. They are fantastic tools for teaching numerous math concepts such as place value, patterning, and basic addition and subtraction. I ordered this set online thinking it would be of the same quality as sets I've previously owned. However, I was disappointed to find that these cubes are made of a much lower quality plastic, so the cubes don't always snap together properly. These particular cubes frustrate my students because some pieces are too hard to connect and other pieces constantly break apart. These cubes are okay, but if I had the chance to order again, I'd look for a better set. It might be worth it to pay a bit more and get better quality. (Although, at $50 a set, I don't think these were very cheap.) Read more

Used these during PLTW classes. The kits come with some but not enough for all my groups to have enough to complete their projects without have to disassemble them each day. I wanted them to be able to keep the progress to the goal they made each day. Read more

Very lightweight compared to other brands. I would have preferred to get something more durable and easier to snap together. Read more

My son is Autistic and his "focus" is numbers. He will make numbers out of anything from Playdoh, putty to Legos, cut paper, etc. Just about anything. These are easy to use, versatile, and there are plenty in this pack to do about anything. As for the rest of the family, they are great for building houses, forts, etc. My daughter even uses them in her "Minecraft" imaginative play. They are fun, durable and quite easy to use. I do recommend them. Read more

My daughter used to have trouble in reception and year 1 with adding and subtracting and number bonds, so I bought these remembering them from my school days. Unfortunately, these aren't the exact same product used in schools, as the quality isn't as good, but for home use they are pretty good value and really help your child to visualise how much 10, 20 or 100 etc. is. Also helps with 10s and units. They can sometimes be a bit hard to disconnect from each other, and some are too loose when they connect together. Also, the ones I remember had a distinctly satisfying "click" - these don't have that. The only thing I would suggest is, for one child, you probably wouldn't need 500 - as that's way too much. 100 is perfectly enough if you can buy it separately. If not, maybe split it with a friend. Read more
