I am so disappointed with this product. It was such a let down. The idea of this product is so wonderful, yet the product is so disappointing. The pieces seem cheap and flimsy. There aren't enough pieces to make more than 2 (if your lucky) set ups. I just really want this product to be as awesome as I thought it would be. Such a disappointment. Read more

Bought as a present for my niece. Was disappointed that the pieces really do not stay together very well at all. They completely fall apart, and we were left reattaching pieces constantly as they fell off all over the place. The swing, when built by instructions, just slowly collapses. It does not come with the piece shown in the photo that is used as a base for the swing to support it, instead, it has to balance on the thin ends of the green sticks. Impossible unless used on thick carpet. You can also only make about 2 designs, and then you have to take designs apart to make the others. The photo makes it seem like you could have all those designs going at once, but that is not the case. I don't think my niece will ever play with this again after our first attempt. Read more

These were super cute. My kids were very eager and excited to design and build a playground! There were a lot of pieces to build what was on the cards or for them to build their own ideas. However, the pieces didn't fit together well, and the instructions were lacking. It was tricky for us to see exactly what we were supposed to be doing. Plus, the parts in the kit were different from the parts in the images. The slide didn't stay attached to the structure, and the pieces disconnected on their own.If your kid is one who likes to build Lego, but not play with what they've built, this might be a good kit for them. But if your child is like mine, and they want to play with the stuff they build, you might want to pass this kit up for some Lego or Magnetiles or Snap Circuits. Read more

Children can learn a lot about problem solving and cause and effect by tinkering with STEM kits. I love this one and so does my five year old.She loves Legos but I wanted to add a little something new to her selections. Some of these pieces don’t mesh as easily as I would like. She has needed help with attaching some of the pieces. Other pieces don’t hold well and will frustrate her when building her playground. In a perfect world, the pieces would just work well together, but I also like that she has to figure out alternatives along the way. These kits are a little pricey especially considering the feel of the plastic. It doesn’t seem super durable long term or in rough hands. Again, this isn’t problematic for me because I like that it teaches patience and being careful with materials.I recommend for all little engineers! Read more

This set is very flimsy and falls apart easily. I was very disappointed. My kids love the Fischer Price Wonder Makers so I thought this would be similar but add variety...all this added was frustration. Half the parts don’t even lock in place so the toy people will end up knocking over the structures. To its credit there are so many ways you can rearrange the parts but I think that’s the downfall. When the parts need to be “jacks of all trades” they end up being “masters of none” so the structures don’t work as well as if the set was more simply designed. Read more

We just received the Learning Resources Engineer Set in the mail a few days ago and have had a blast playing with all the interchangeable pieces. We thought at first that we would be able to create a full playground (my daughter wanted her little Shopkins to play on it), but in actuality we were only able to create small individual parts of the playground. I would definitely recommend this for kids over 5 as it does require using problem solving, logic & basic engineering practices. The cardboard box is great for storage, and the cards have challenges and some thought provoking questions on them to help kids get creative. Definitely a great purchase - hours of entertainment! I really love the idea of a playground children can build.all kids spend so much time on a playground so they can really relate to what they're building. The quality of the pieces isn't great in this set. . My 5 year old needs help locking some pieces together, they have to pushed quite hard.. I wish they had designed the pieces to fit together better. Legos are much better at this. my child enjoys playing with the set anyway hence 4 stars. I also wish they'd include a few more of these plastic pieces to be able to build multiple playground toys simultaneously instead of having to dismantle the slide to build swing etc. we used some of our legos and tinker toys to overcome the lack of sufficient parts. The person falls off the swings... The swings fall down. Not well made, complicated for the age. I love the concept of trying different ideas to make things better but the pieces need to be better made. Will continue to use for the critical thinking aspect but I see my daughter getting frustrated a lot. Read more

Some elements from the instruction cards are not exactly the same as the real plastic pieces. Anchor points differ sometimes, and sometime are even completely impossible to interlock. That was maybe a good idea of toy, but poorly made in my opinion. Read more

Great idea, poor execution. The cheap plastic pieces don't fit together or hold together terribly well. The whole set needs a redesign. My 5 year old son likes to get the set out and play with it and create things, so it's not altogether a waste of money, but I'm not sure of its learning value. The card prompts are a good idea but it's not always clear from the images how the pieces are meant to fit together. The purple platform piece we have actually looks different from the one in the picture. Read more

The pieces dont fit together properly (eg the tunnel slide doesnt work and the base for the roundabout wont lie flat) and some pieces crack easily. You cant make all the items on the main picture at the same time, that's not clear until you start building. When following the instructions it's not clear to children that they have to take apart what they've managed to create before moving onto the next part. There is no learning involved for children, just tears and frustration. We sent it back for a refund. Read more
