I gave this to my daughter for Christmas and it was so fun while it lasted. However, it did not last long. It randomly stopped working 2 months after Christmas. Replacing batteries was a no go. I contacted the company (leapfrog, not Amazon) and they admitted that it was probably faulty hardware, but said they could not replace the item because it was purchased more than 90 days ago (even though it was only opened 60 days ago). I understand that companies have policies, but this is apparently a common problem (read of this in other reviews) and I was disappointed that leapfrog will not back up their faulty products or fix a reaccuring issue. So be warned if you purchase this product. Read more

Out of all the leapfrog products to buy, I would not buy this one. To be fair to the product, I must reveal most of my dissatisfaction is from comparing it to the old version of this toy. I bought the old version used, it came programmed with a name already, no big deal, had the usb to change to my little girls name, or so I thought. I plugged it into my computer and the software for this product, conveniently had been discountined. I was a little frustrated with that fact, but I saw they had made a new version and I was more than happy to spend any amount of money on it. My little girl loved the old version of this toy and I LOVED the personalization, it said your child’s name so many times, it even had emails that you could have personalized with your child’s name and 3 family members! It also had a song of your child’s name. Similar to the violet plush toy, but even more personalized. Now comes this piece of crap, you program your child’s name into it alright, once, you program it into the first letter of their name, when they press it it’ll say “that’s the first letter of your name” and spells it. It literally only spells it, it doesn’t even SAY it. Shame on you leapfrog, as a parent with a child with autism, who is constantly looking for ways to teach her to say her name, the old software/toy was going to be perfect. This “personalization” on this new toy is cheap and lazy and ridiclous. Read more

The product was the second one we had just like this and both broke after 1 month use. It was just out of amazon’s return dates and now I’m stuck with this very poorly constructed toy that has great potential but does not hold up. My children were not rough with this toy and it never fell to the ground yet after only 1 month time it died. The first one just like this did the same. I took it apart to find wires were not connected and could not be fixed. Leapfrog customer service makes it too complicated to even get someone on the phone to help. Very very disappointing! My daughter enjoys playing with this. She is 2 year and 3 months. She seems to be at a perfect age for this device. It provides some learning and challenging without being way over her head. She likes to toggle between the laptop and touchpad modes. My only problem with the device is that the monitor is very bright. Sometimes when the lighting in the room is deem she would tell me her eyes hurt and would shut the device off. I wish the monitor brightness could be adjusted. Read more

For years I’ve been purchasing Leap Frog products :) I have 3 kids and they’ve all gone through LF toys.I just bought this for my 5 year old daughter to replace the old Leap Frog she had and it’s been perfect.I was pretty surprised to see the how you can personalize the laptop with your child’s name.It can be used as laptop and tablet which is super cute. The tablet function is touch screen - which again my daughter and I were impressedThe screen flips into tablet mode :) Read more

My daughter is below the age for this product, so she doesn't use it as intended yet. She loves to "type" (aka pound on the keys) of our notebook computers while we're trying to work and gets frustrated when we take our computer away. Now, she can sit by us and "type" on her own computer! I think she'll use it properly once she's a bit older, and I really like the skills it teaches. Read more

Pretty sure it was a previously returned product. Arrived already on, with batteries installed, and no battery door or screw. Not great for a barely 2 year old. I'm really done with Amazon for most things, at least kid related...Aside from that, which is what got it a one star, while the spinning touchscreen is nice, the programs are basically identical to the original version we have. There seems to be one touchscreen game (touch the hair brush, touch the dog, repeat). The screen is better lit, but far too dim blocky. Didn't try the writing feature, which never worked on our original. Where is the car located convenience of Amazon if 90% of everything is fake or refurbished and you have to return it? I'm just going to use it for browsing from now on and whenever possible order straight from the manufacturer. Read more

This item was a gift for my niece on christmas. She was super excited about having a tablet/laptop that was all hers. She went to turn it on and discovered that it wasn’t working. We changed the batteries in it and tried it again. Still nothing. My niece is only 4 years old and was extremely disappointed that the toy that she loved the most wouldn’t even work. Nice idea, wish quality was better. Read more
