It seems like a good product but I’m bummed that it says it markets its self as pesticide free and safe when it contains phenoxyethanol. This ingredient is known to be toxic and for that reason other countries have banned its use altogether. I’m so sad because I was really looking forward to using this detangler and live prevention. This product is amazing so far! My very active daughter has very long, fine hair and is a reluctant brusher, meaning tangles are a constant (painful) battle. I purchased this product because we have had numerous lice outbreaks in our classroom and her abundance of hair, in addition to her propensity to hug everyone, means our odds of getting the little buggers is pretty high. So I decided to find a preventive spray to give us a fighting chance. I would assume the lice prevention is working, although I can't really gauge that adequately except to say we haven't had any problems. But let me tell you, the detangling power of this stuff has made me a believer - we will be keeping this in our hair care regimen. No more fighting the brushing, and definitely no more pain. I started using this product in Dec 2018. My daughter is elementary school. She came home Friday, the last day of school before starting her Christmas break. On Saturday she was scratching head constantly !!!! We spent her Christmas break battling lice. After using the lice treatment from the same company "Ladibugs" I decided to purchase 2 products as a "preventive" therapy. I bought the peppermint spray and the detangler. Her hair is long, so I use the detangler on the bottom half of her hair to make it easier to brush. Once I put her hair in a ponytail, I spray a light mist over her entire head and the nap of her neck. This has become a daily morning school ritual. Her school has had several lice breakouts. But she has NOT come home with lice. Peppermint is a lice deterrent. Don't worry. Both products DO NOT have a strong overwhelming peppermint smell. Read more

My kids go thru detangler like crazy. This one was similar to the other brand of lice preventive detangler but I wanted to try it out. The smell is kind of strong but I don't get the "mint" scent. It works well in their hair to remove tangles but it does leave it kind of weighted down and greasy feeling if they use much. But I did go back and notice it contains phenoxyethanol which is known to be dangerous. It can cause eczema and allergic reactions. I purchase a bottle for each bathroom for my 2 daughters and replenish when we run out. We have been using Ladybugs Lice Prevention Detangler Spray for both of my girls for the past 4-5 yrs. Both of my daughters love the smell and it helps with both of their hair types. One daughter has fine and brittle hair that tangles easy. My other daughter has very thick and wavy/semi curly hair. Even though both kids had lice issues in their classrooms at school at some point, we thank goodness did not get lice! Love the product and will continue to buy! We've used this product daily during the school year for 2.5 years. A single bottle lasts a very long time, it detangles nicely, and it smells amazing. I am amending my original review. While this product may not be right for us, the customer service team is amazing. They reached out to me and allowed me to select another product to try. I selected the conditioner which works great. I am not sure if maybe the item we received was defective in some way, but it did not detangle anyones hair. Love that this is a two-in-one! My daughter and I both used it all school year and no lice! We both have long hair and I work at the school. (Also used a mint tea tree shampoo during the year) There have been several lice outbreaks at school and with her friends. The smell is ok, it is not as strong as other products.
