SO this item doesn't come with double sided clear tape as stated. It came with BLUE duct tape....really?! I thought another review was just a fluke. Nope. I thought it was ridiculous so I contacted the company and they informed me that the blue duct tape is actually double sided adhesive and the blue part comes off. ooops. This is what the company said "The roll of blue tape is double sided. You will need to apply it to the back of the foam before trying to remove the backing. If you cannot pull off the blue plastic liner after the tape is attached to the foam, use a sharp knife to make a diagonal cut across the width of the tape. This will make it easier to remove the blue backing. Let me know if this still does not work!" And guess what.... it did work! I like the look of this protector and it was simple to put on once I figured out how to remove the blue part- it took cutting a little and tweezers but took maybe 15 minutes to actually put on. I cut the pad just a tad too short so there is a small gap but that is user error. I was pretty baffled by the blue duct tape at first....I was totally wrong and it actually was the correct item received. :) Read more

The media could not be loaded.  I got frustrated with the tape like everyone else so I bought some at the store. Had the same problem with the store bought tape. looked at a video that basically says the easiest way to handle double sided tape is to tear it by hand. the top plastic will be stretched and ready to peel right off.please mark this as helpful so other people can see it. :-) Read more

This will be a very different review from others. I don't have a hearth or even a fireplace. I bought this to cut up larger piece and wrap it around a very hardcore metal edge of my mesh computer chair as it was causing great back of leg cramps and loss of circulation. It works great for it and the two corner items work on dangerous corner shelves one near my new refrigerator to prevent dinging the stainless steel door. The other at an eye-level corner of a shelf unit. Couldn't be happier it's just as described and almost undetectable on my chair while providing much needed cushioning. Read more

I was very impressed with this hearth cushion. Even my 5-year-old granddaughter said it was pretty and soft too. My 2-year-old grandchildren have touched and leaned on it and it stayed in place but if somebody pulls then it may come off.I had to trim to fit and it was easy to trim with a pair of scissors. The 2-sided tape that comes with it is easy to apply. Just place sticky side of tape on trim. Then remove blue backer tape (this was the hardest part) and apply to your hearth. The hearth guard is attractive and I would recommend it. Read more

Installed within 20 mins, sticks well, pretty sure it is going to prevent a few goose eggs! I ordered it for a brick hearth in the home my kids are renting. My grandson is 9 months old and highly mobile. We applied this to the edges of the hearth as soon as we got it. The most difficult part was removing the blue liner from the adhesive strip. We feel like it is doing exactly what we purchased it for. It was a little bit shorter than we needed to cover the sides as well, so I am ordering a second set. I’m sure whatever is left will get used, too! Read more

This is exactly what we needed for our stone fireplace. ***BUT don't be like me and try to cut corners when installing. I was rushing (which was dumb because it didn't take long to measure/cut/install) and I didn't follow the instructions to use rubbing alcohol on the seams before applying the double sided tape and folding to make the corners. That resulted in some spots not staying folded/popping up periodically. Read more

Our child starting crawling the week he turned 8 months and we were wildly unprepared. I ran to Amazon to buy a quick fix for our dangerous hearth! I’m glad I read another review where the author stated he or she had called the company and ending up using tweezers for the double sided tape. This is the only way I was able to get that blue backing off. I’m happy to say so far this product has also held up and it also doesn’t look too terrible in our living room. The padding is like a foam, so it’s firm but soft enough to brace a fall. Our baby tends to use the padding to help pull himself up and it still sticks. All in all this product was inexpensive and took about 15 minutes to set up - perfect for my needs. Read more

The material of the cushion is great, very soft and very cushiony. I feel like it’s going to be very helpful in helping my little one not bonk his head in the fireplace. It’s a lot softer than some of the other brand name cushion strips you find in the stores. However one thing that’s bothering me more than just a little is the double sided tape it comes with. It ruined my sissors I used to cut the tape, leaving them very sticky afterwards. But My biggest complaint with the tape is that it’s so hard to remove the backing, making this a job that takes more time than I intended. Overall though, I’m happy with the product. Read more

We put on the hearth cusion according to the instructions, came back the next day and it had completely fallen off. It was a pain to have to stick the adhesive strips on and then it clearly wasn't strong enough glue. We replaced it with carpet tape which held better but my 11 month old just rips the whole thing off. It does absolutely no good. Also, having to cut the actual foam into pieces to make it fit makes it look bad. I understand that this way it's universal and you can make it fit pretty much any fireplace but it would look a lot nicer as 1 uniform piece. Read more

easy installation. No issues with it staying on...even with picking baby fingers! It came off our wooden mantel without marks as well. It looks awful, but at least it protects baby! Read more

Easy to put on, I did not use the Velcro, I bought two sided tape instead. Looks great, not an unsightly addition in our living room. Read more
