It smells like men's cologne and I believe this product from this seller is fraudulent. This Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine styling product was recommended to me by a friend who claims she is "addicted" to KM products. My salon doesn't carry it, so I ordered it online. MISTAKE! Even tho it had bad reviews, I thought I'd try it anyway. The reviewers were right. The smell is absolutely obnoxious! I smelled like a skunk p-(urinated) on my head! I couldn't wait to wash it out of my hair!!!I've contacted customer service at Amazon and alerted them to the problem. This is either a fraud, as one reviewer noted, or the formula is defective. My concern is that the product might be somehow contaminated. Please don't apply this to your hair or skin. I advised the woman at customer service that Amazon should consider dropping this seller. We customers have no way of chemically analyzing every personal care product that we order. Writing reviews is fine, but I felt this warranted contacting Amazon directly. I have never used Kevin Murphy before, so really had nothing to compare it to...for those of you who are familiar with Shimmer Shine--trust your nose! When I received my bottle, much of it had leaked out into the envelope it was packed in. I was wondering what the heck I had received as it smelled like aftershave with a lot of alcohol in it. I was surprised to open the envelope and find Shimmer Shine because this sure does not smell like the product I picked up at the salon.I used it on my hair this morning and once it was dry I could see and feel a difference. I bought this product from a Salon in Minneapolis prior to COVID and ran out. They didn’t have it available due to the pandemic so I bought it on Amazon and it was the exact same product that I had bought prior. I wanted to write this review because I’m sick of people saying a product is not “salon quality” or smells different? This product definitely has a “scent” and a pleasant one in my opinion. WorthIt! Kevin Murphy hair products have never disappointed. This spray is NOT a hairspray. You may notice It is a teeny teeny bit sticky for a few seconds if you do not , or have not use (d) any hair spray or spray in products.The subtle shine/shimmer is beautiful! I began using this product about 2 years ago and love it. My hair is a bit on the coarse side and every 5-6 months I will have a Brazilian Blowout treatment done. On top of that I have my hair colored every 4-5 weeks to cover all my grays. I spray this product on my round brush and wrap my hair around the brush. It helps keep my hair from getting tangled/broken on the brush. It does not make my hair greasy at all. It helps to smooth out my hair as I blow dry it. I’ve used this product for 2 years and always bought it at a salon. This time I ordered it on Amazon and this is fake. The scent is similar, but wears off in minutes, whereas the real product makes your hair smell wonderful all day. But the worst part, no shine and actually makes your hair look little like it was misted with water! Not what you want after taking time to do a great blow out.
