I’ve tried a lot of products on the market and I have to say this is the best by far if you want your hair to stand up or styled over and look somewhat natural. Only bad thing I can say about the product is it is hard to wash out. I have also tried the Night Rider product to compare because I was looking for comparisons on the two online but couldnt find much, the Night Rider is easier to wash out, looks a little bit wet (non-matt finish) and doesnt hold as well or as long. If you are looking for a matt, natural strong hold look use Rough Rider, if you are looking for a slightly damp look and a medium hold (goes a bit sticky if you use too much) then use the Night Rider paste. Both great products, and I still use the Night Rider when the occassion suits but Rough Rider is the best on the market for matt strong hold and moveable throughout the day. Read more
Ok..this is hands down the best hair styling clay I’ve used period and I’m a hair styling product addict. I’ve used some of the finest and most expensive hair styling creams/clays/gels/pomades on the market. Kevin Murphy rough rider is simply a cut above the rest if your looking for matte finish and flexible hold. The smell alone will make you wanna rub it all over your body. I want to get a cologne that smells like this. Not much else to say, the product is seriously amazing. To each his own, but for my hair type and hairstyle it’s the brad pitt of hair clays. Just for comparison, some brands I’ve used include blue meraki, triumph and disasters fiber royale, hanz de fuko, Johnny’s chop shop, the cardinal brand, style stories funk clay. These are all A1 products, but Kevin Murphy rough rider clay just blows them away. If this is any indication of his quality, I will definitely try many other products from his line. Read more
I feel like it's a great product but as it was mentioned by few ppl here and also on YouTube - this product is mainly for those with thick hair. I have a fine hair and it was still great for building a volume and creating the styles you're going for, but it makes the hair appear thinner than it is, to the point where you can see the scalp. Very dry look, and I've tried applying it on various hair dryness as well as the amounts of product. Just didn't work for me. But as I said earlier, it feels like a great product for thick hair. I’ve been using this product for about a week now and I’ll say it is so far the best clay I’ve used .It’s got a monster hold with out having that tacky greasy feel. It’s very easy to apply compared to other clays and a little goes a long way.I used to be a big pomade kinda guy, and if that’s you try a clay out. While I wish it was cheaper , it is a good product.I’ve included a picture from first applied to end of the day. Read more
This stuff is fantastic. It's exactly what I was looking for. I have used the Kevin Murphy super goo for years now and am glad I decided to try this out instead. It gives my hair a natural hold look and is matte so it doesn't give it any unnecessary shine. I have thick hair but it still holds it in place just fine. a little con is it's a little difficult to get out in the shower, but a thorough shampoo massage works fine. Read more
Since Hemp concrete is discontinued, I was looking for a similar replacement. Read a review from Hemp concrete Amazon page saying this KM rough rider is the closest one does the same result Hemp does, so I decided to give it a try. It turns out pretty amazing!! Almost the same holding strength and it is matte without any shine, nice smell too. It's a little bit pricey but totally worth it. Read more
The worst high end hair product I’ve ever purchased. First off it’s matte, which is good, but it also dries your hair out terribly and leaves it gross. If you wear a beanie or hat you can’t take it off because the product flakes apart and looks like dandruff in your hair. Also forget second day styling even if you refresh it with water, it’s so thick and gummy your hair is stuck together and matted the second day and the aforementioned flaking. I can’t imagine how it got high reviews, maybe I got a bad batch-highly doubtful though. It does smell great but your hair looks awful. Read more
What I liked most was the texture it gives to my hair. And as described on the product, it provides medium hold (medium low for me because I have 11 in. Hair). Since I have an oily skin my hair usually becomes quite oily if leave the product in overnight, but with this particular product it's not the case, as it's a clay. I usually pair it with EVO salty dog spray; and bumble&bumble pre-style spray. Although, don't forget to condition your hair, if you use the product too often. It goes without saying that it takes longer to wash off the product (since it's a clay and absorbs mositure). All-in-all, a good product. Will definitely buy again. Read more
I normally buy the "Night Rider", but as it was sold out, I gave this one a go..It is much thicker, and needs a lot more work to soften. It has a consistency of hard fudge, so you need to dig a bit out and warm it up a lot to soften.but it does hold well. (main comments, takes slightly longer to apply and slightly longer to wash out) Read more
I only ever buy this for my hair!! Great texture, smells good. Tip for using it.... use a hair dryer to melt it down a bit and it spreads better and goes in easier if you have thick hair like I do Read more
Great product. Don't need to use too much and it gives a great strong hold. Expensive for a mens hair product but probably the best one I've used. Read more
Love this product. Great hold matte effect. Read more
For some reason the clay kept in the container loses its strength after a while. Have the feeling it held much longer when just opening it. Read more
