I don't have another ketone meter to compare this to, but I like the fact that it's FDA approved, and some other reviewers seem to have verified its accuracy. It's super easy to use, from the meter to the lancing device. I like the carrying case too. The only reason I subtracted a star (would've only subtracted a half star, if it were an option) was because of the price of the refill test strips. While I don't have a problem with the price per strip (around a dollar per strip seems to be the going rate for all meters), I DO have a problem with the size of box I have to buy. The only refill box I see on Amazon (which is the only place they are available, as far as I can tell) is a box of 50. Would be nice if they had smaller boxes of 20 or 30 available, so I don't have to spend $50 every time.UPDATE - 06/25/20: I complained, and KetoSens delivered! They now offer a box of 30, and the price per strip has come down to boot! My meter still works as good as the day I received it (almost a year ago), and it seems to be accurate (I've never compared it to another meter, but any time I'm supposed to be in ketosis, it says I'm in ketosis). This is a great meter to test ketones, I bought a glucose meter and used this to find the glucose ketone index. I compared this to a ketomojo that I bought for my Mother and like this one better. The mojo needs a calibration input in the form of a little chip that resembles a stick. Another step the Ketosens doesn't have to do, but the mojo does read blood glucose. It is fast and have also compared this to the urine strips, and Mojo again in my opinion very accurate and repeatable. It's a great tool for monitoring your status on the Keto diet (other than weight loss not sure how you can really monitor without one). I bought the strips and lancets off Amazon and the average about a $1.00 each. The lancet device is easy to load and use. My unit came with correct batteries installed, I saw another review where they said shipped with wrong batteries. I considered a breath unit and may still get one as ketosis emits different types of indicators. Hope this helps! Read more

The strips don't appear with the meter (or even in a search for strips) and if I had seen the price of the strips my decision to buy may have been different, or not but I would rather know about it before. I never put a needle in a device before and it wasnt too complicating. I'm sure for most others it is simple. The device has a big manual and other papers that made it confusing to figure out where to start. I'm super simple and using this device for my ketone count. It's my second day using it and it's easier now. On the device that you use to prick your finger, the higher the number means the deep the needle will go in for more blood draw. I didn't get much blood on the lower 0,1, or 2 settings. I didn't feel anything. 3 and 4 are the sweet spots. And I assure you, you do not hardly feel the poke on your finger. If you did or if it hurt I would say something because I would want to know.Basically, once you get past the huge manual and all the other papers it comes with you simply uncap the poking device, insert the blue needle and take the cap off. Close the device and set to your number (try 3 to start) and pull back the opposite end and push the button in the middle to engage. You'll insert the keto test strip with the computer chip looking side in first and once you get a little bit of blood, touch it to the keto stick on the outside end and your good!I know my review is long and hopefully not too difficult to follow. I just got this KetoSens! Someone gifted me with both KetoMojo and KetoBM. I'm not sure what the type is about KetoBM seriously. Obviously I couldn't get the free strips for KetoBM because I was gifted not purchased. Strip won't go it smoothly. Material is very plasticy. KetoSens is so far the easiest to use! And it's ketone specific. I did some research and measuring both glucose and ketone is not necessary. just gotta watch out for ketone only if you're on ketodiet. This Keto meter is great. It is so easy to set up with set quick guide enclosed. I thought about a couple others but reviews were so good for this one, even though strips are pricey still a little cheaper than some others for 50 strips. Quite a bit cheaper for the 30 strip box. I already have a glucose meter which works great so I decided this one better met my new needs. This meter is wonderfully easy to use for beginners to Keto. Only 1 thing that would have been nice would have been a chart of ranges that would inform user what level of ketosis their reading was.
