3 day hold for curly hair. This product has been holy grail for me for a few years. I have fine but full curly long curly hair, Caucasian. Anyways I put a moisturizing product in first, currently shea moisture combing cream, 2 pumps if I am air drying, 3 if diffusing. Comb that in. Then I rake in 2 large pumps of Joico power whip trying to coat every strand. Then I take wide tooth comb or Denman brush and go through just 3 sections to create clumps. Then scrunch. Depending on my life that day I will diffuse, or air dry and keep flipping and scrunching during the drying process for volume. Do have to scrunch out crunch as with gels. This mousse doesn’t flake, is silicone free, concentrated, and I seriously get 3 days out of my curls while sleeping with a satin pillow case and hair in pineapple on top or in a gaiter/buff. I ordered one can and the product separated into a watery mess. I used it on my hair and it was sticky and hard to dry. So I thought maybe it had gotten too hot in transit so I ordered another can now that weather is cooler. They changed the packaging but it was supposed to be the same! It is not! The watery, sticky mess doesn’t even hold as well.I alway wonder why companies take a perfect product and have to change it for the better. They always ruin it! Are they that stupid? They have changed the formula, not sure why companies feel they have to change something that works. It no longer dispenses thick and creamy but instead it's, well I can't even describe it except I have to be careful or it will drip off my fingers onto the floor. No more putting a fluffy creamy pile of mousse in the palm of my hand. It used to have a light scent but now the scent is quite strong and different than the original. I will continue to use it because it works but I sure wish they hadn't changed it. I'm all for change if it betters a product. Go ahead, change the looks of the can if you want to "stay current" but quit messing with things that work and a different scent isn't always a positive thing. I have fine, thin, dry, color-treated hair. All products for fine, thin hair are designed to dry out hair because apparently all people with fine, thin hair have oily hair as well. All except me! Those products turn my hair to straw!! I need texture and hold without drying and this mousse does the job. It does have a strong hold so your hair will not be flowy, blowing in the wind soft so if that's what you are looking for this is not the product for you. It adds great texture and my hair holds its style all day. My hairspray use has decreased dramatically. It only takes a small amount of this product to work. I pair this with the Joico Shake Liquid to Powder texturizer spray (use after you dry and style) and I am a happy girl!! Read more

I have wild, untamable hair that I have never been able to let air dry and look good afterwards. I have tried everything on the market and was given this mousse as a gift from my niece who is a stylist. IT IS AMAZING!!! The only thing I have found so far that can make my hair look good that isn't a styling tool. If I am in a rush, I just jump out of the shower, rub (a quite large) handful of joico in my hair and can trust that it will dry naturally and leave me with tame wavy hair instead of a frizzy mess on my head!! As other reviews have noted, this is not the same product it used to be. It turns to liquid goo in seconds compared to the fluffy mousse that used to hold its form until I ran it through my hair. there's also a strong scent now too, which smells like men's cologne. The smell alone would have been enough to turn me away, but the quality of the mousse is also very disappointing. I will be looking for a replacement product as this is not at all what it used to be. It took me a long time to find the perfect mousse and I am so sad that they have indeed changed not just the bottle look but the formula itself. I have a problem with scents and the old formula worked great and I could tolerate the scent. I bought this and the first thing I noticed was the scent is not the same and I immediately got the headache and nausea I get from most products scents. Why they changed a perfectly good product always baffles me. Since this is not returnable I will have to take this as a lesson to not order hair products online. I love this mousse. I've been trying all the usual brands in the shops to get one that actually makes a difference to my hair to no avail. I then went online to find one and this is it. It actually adheres to the hair and after a blow dry my hair has much more volume. While drying the hair there is a slight hardening of the product, but once comed through my hair feels normal but with more volume. Exactly what I've been searching for! Read more
